what, from "lame" to "fucked up" and "twisted"? name calling? whatever.
well of whom? folks in the UK or wherever, of course. It was actually an attempt at levity.

whatever, I don't like the us. easy as. I wasn't saying anything bad about you.
just.. end!

Wow, did this thread REALLY have to take a turn of bashing the US? And no, before anyone jumps on MY back, I'm not American. I just don't see why her buying a summer home, or a home to be at when she's in the States is such a big deal. Just because she buys a home there, doesn't mean she's abandoning her home in the UK. If you were travelling, you'd want to have a place to go that's a bit closer, too. But really, it disappoints me to see people saying it sucks, etc. Sure, not everyone agrees with the policies, etc. of the current administration, but guess what? Neither does the majority of the country anymore. Americans are people too, and people aren't perfect. Deal with it. Dammit. Now you gone done and made me get political too LOL.

well, that's how i feel. many of us here disagree with our goverment's policies, but there are some here that want to keep comments of US at a second grade level. you don't like us, you don't like us. but, if you can, be a little more eloquent and intelligent in your comments. it makes for a more interesting discussion. if you can't, you get back what you give!!!!!!!

kev, I agree with you 100%. Not that I am calling anyone here unintelligent, but it's very ignorant to make a generalized statement that the country is fucked up, etc. when your knowledge is at a minimum. Again, I'm not American, but I'm informed. I choose to learn about something before I make a fool of myself by saying outrageous comments with no substance behind them. Calling all Americans fucked up is no better than assuming all Muslims are terrorists, imo. Generalizations suck.

No worries, LL, you didn't do anything wrong. :-) There's nothing wrong with the thread/topic itself, just some misinformed replies.

So they say she is buying another home in another country! If I could afford to, I would buy a place in the US, I love going to the states! She obviously does too, and it makes sense to buy a base there if you are intending to visit often. Why be insulting in general to the US? Have they a good reason for their dislike? Have they ever been there for themselves and found it as they describe? Or do they only "think" it is what they describe, do they know for a fact, or just read about it and seen it on the news!!? I would quite happily have "homes" in different parts of the world if I was very rich and could afford to!
