Last night, trying to go to sleep after seeing the recent photos of Amy's irritated skin and the cuts on her arms, the following thought crossed my mind, and it brought tears to my eyes:

I wished that one of Amy's close friends or a fan could say to Amy, "The songs have a special quality that sets them apart from most other music. That quality is the heartfelt personal nature of your lyrics. That quality is what lets hundreds of thousands--if not millions of your fans feel as if you are singing your songs just for them. You don't have to beat yourself up over minor flaws in your performances; to the fans, it doesn't matter. When a fan goes to one of your concerts, (s)he's just happy to be in the same room with you. When your fans watch you performing on television and you look into the camera lens, they feel as if you are looking straight at them, singing just for them. Even hearing a recording of one of your songs makes it feel as if you are a close friend who has walked into the room."

beautiful post, Alfredo. Exactly the way I feel. Holy shit, the Circuit City tv commercial just came on for Back to Black  guess it's too much to expect with this Amy vibe going right at this moment that she will ring me up :jump:

Thanks for the nice comments. I wrote that post at the end of my lunch break, and I was in a hurry to get it done. I should have really said "Your songs" instead of "The songs." Nonetheless, I think that there are very few artists out there who have the ability to come across to their fans as a close friend. Sadly, I don't think that Amy has yet caught onto the idea that her music casts this spell over people. I really wish that she'd "get it" one of these days.

Agree.

Exactly. She said "It's not like I'm that important or anything. It's not brain surgery."
But I think her music might be just as helpful as brain surgery.
