When you're on the Caribbean you can drink as much alcohol as you want that it just wont get you drunk. It's weird but it has happened to anyone I know who has been there...

Happened to me, too - in Jamaica. You just get this nice little buzz - it's great....

I haven't had the pleasure of visiting the Caribbean yet. :( I was supposed to visit Haiti a few years ago but the trip was cancelled due to "unrest" on the island. We were told it wasn't safe at the time. I'm dying to go to Haiti, and Jamaica is high on my list too. And now I want to see St. Lucia. It looks beautiful. :)

I really want to visit Bermuda. My parents went years ago and said it was just amazing. Crystal clear water, people riding bikes instead of cars...sounds exciting!

Agreed.....As an addict alcohol is a drug...while im happy shes doesnt appear to be using the hard stuff just the act of drinking keeps her in the habit of being an addict

i agree, she was always a drinker and i never thought that it was beer that made her look bad, it's obvious she is off hard drugs.

Youve never seen her drunk on stage?..Hey i am really really happy she appears to be doing better and is away from the bs dont get me wrong. Thing is the problem still exists and its not going to magically go away if shes still drinking thats the nature of the disease

I mean its obvious that that drug binge Amy went on a little more than a month ago was the last Amy's been using, because she looks wn entire world better, mind you, she's still got issues that haven't magically wiped away.

In an ideal world, she wouldn't be drinking, or doing drugs, but as far as I'm concerned any baby steps are good ones, and right now I'll be happy if she's off the hard drugs at the moment.

Maybe stopping drinking can come later, but some people do learn to curb their drinking, even formerly heavy drinkers.

Time will tell, but right now, it's the little steps that count.

oh yes i've seen videos of it.
i like her sober on stage too,
but i'm talking about her worst time (whole 08 after the grammies),
it didn't come from just alcohol.

the drunk on stage thing has been going on long before we were worried.

I agree with Lainey. I'm sure Amy's under a lot of pressure to stay off the drugs. Trying to quit the booze on top of it might just be setting herself up for failure. Its not realistic. Maybe for her, small steps and taking one thing at a time will be the key to success . Also, as Lainey said, many people can learn to curb their drinking. With a lot of discipline, she may be able to do that. Only time will tell.

Also, remember she's dealing with an eating disorder. This puts even more pressure on her shoulders. Trying to overcome an eating disorder can be even more difficult than getting off the drugs. As a person who lived with anorexia, I can tell you, it's something that's with you all the time, even when you're "recovered". You can live without drugs, you can't live without food. So if she can get off the drugs first, she'll be able to focus on the other issues ie: alcohol, bulimia, etc. One step at a time. I wish her all the best.

Good point, I think we're all just too excited for now. Baby steps.

That's where I'm at right now; I had a slip up NYE, and no amount of platitudes from my friends will take away the guilt and self-flagellation. I know I talked a lot of shit and am very embarrassed.

I agree, one problem at a time. She does seem to have both the booze and the cigarettes under control at the moment, which is all you can hope for while the drug amnesty is still new in her mind...

I completely agree.
And I go back to... I go back to us.

Bruised, battered and desparate for a fag she may be, but Amy is our 21st Century Piaf: flawed yet fabulous, tormented yet towering. Think of her this way and hope that the still remarkably young woman under the eyeliner thinks that way too. - Jude Rogers, The Word

When your an addict there is no "curb your drinking"..While i agree baby steps are good in her situation and i'm not familiar with the eating disorder thing, drinking and drugs go hand and hand either your going to do it or not do it. But i will agree with you guys its great to see her looking and feeling better and somewhat enjoying life. I support her %100 no matter what and praying that good things are ahead for her
