Even though it was bad quality home video it was great to watch. Amy looked like a real willfull child, nothing has changed there. Cynthia was stunning and Mitch looks so like his dad.

Her nan was gorgeous!
i'd be upset at my dad too, to be honest. specially cause it doesnt seem like she wanted to cooperate. probably not the best time to publish it, or do it.

thanks Jayne!

I enjoyed it. It was well-done. I particularly liked learning more about the Winehouse family history. I always knew that Cynthia was a big influence on Amy, but I understand that better now after seeing the pic of Cynthia--there's quite a resemblance, I see where Amy gets her beauty. Mitch is an emotional guy, which I find touching, and I think Amy inherited that as well. I know some people put him down for liking the limelight, but, as in the case of his daughter, I feel the positives outweigh the negatives.

As short as it is, I find this film quite amazing: real, honest, personal, moving, dignified, brave, informative, in fact, excellent. I feel a lot of sympathy for Amy's dad, seeing and hearing about his struggle, and I respect him the more for it, and also Janis, whose short appearance is nonetheless very significant, as she and Mitch are talking together about Amy and parenting. Amy is delightful no matter when or where; be it as a child or an adult, in London or on St. Lucia, outside court or at a birthday party. But my favourite part is definitely Mitch's birthday party, with "all the Winehouses together", especially the moment at the end, when Amy gives her dad a kiss, though it can't better the kiss she gives him in the Barak documentary!:)

Amy Winehouse died, and she's taken a part of my soul with her. May that part be the love that I felt for her, and may the love that I still feel for her be the undying part of us both.

it was nice to watch, but i agree, if she is uncomfortable with cameras they should just let her be.

it's strange to watch an Amy Winehouse doc.
usualy what we watch on the telly, is Amy singing or giving an interview, stuff she agreed to do and participate wether she enjoys it or not. this one is diferent, she is a secondary character, who is uncomfortable with the camera presence and she definately did not agree to do this, i mean, the whole documentary is about her, but she never has her say in this although 'everybody' (daddy mitchel, mommy and the therapist) has something to say.
basically, i was expecting something different, off course i enjoyed this (anything about amy is interesting) but it was a little too invasive with some bits that did not make sense. and it's sad.....Amy feels embaracement towards this...so i feel surprised it was published.
But it's cool at the same time, to watch Amy from a diferent prespective, like i said before secondary character, specialy when she's at her fathers birthday party, mingling with the crowd, smiling, dancing and singing - a very comfortable enviornment for her, where she can act normal, anf feel safe....

thanks jayne!

i sympathize with Mitch's story. having an alcoholic and a drug addict daughter must be very hard to handle, and i dont wish that to anybody. Still, this is a well educated and very wealthy family that has all the posibilities to treat her. i dont doubt AT ALL that that was a desperate father who loves his daugther and wants to help her, but these things.. they are not just boring, they are unnecessary and dont help at all.

i didnt learn anything new, so no, this documentary didn't show me 'how Mitch's life really is'. the only thing it did was confirming that this guy loves the attention and the cameras a little bit too much and has become completely addicted to it.

i still think he's a loving dad and i wish him all the best because he seemed to have helped amy a LOT with her problems, but i can't accept a film like this, where he wants it to look like he's portaiting Amy, when he's just talking about himself and victimizing himself as if his life would be impossible to handle. There are people who strugle everyday with children with illnesses and dont even have the resources his family do, so i dont pity him.

i love amy and her music with my life, and i hope she's better everyday. i pray for her. and i also pray for her dad's blindness

Thanks Jayne!!
Second link isn't working for me but I'll have a look at it again later - too tired after almost 11 hours of studying.

Edit: never mind, I got it.
And I go back to... I go back to us.

Bruised, battered and desparate for a fag she may be, but Amy is our 21st Century Piaf: flawed yet fabulous, tormented yet towering. Think of her this way and hope that the still remarkably young woman under the eyeliner thinks that way too. - Jude Rogers, The Word

The second link didn't work for me either, Sarah. But by going to the first link and looking around, I was able to find Part 2 and click on it.
