I really don't see why this concert is viewed as the travesty it's made out to be. She looked irritated, fine, I'll give it that, but she sounded fine. She didn't look or sound intoxicated at all, not a bit, so I'm not sure where people get that from.

Wasn't there some pretty serious technical issues that evening? Not sure how that was Amy's fault. Not to mention, she was coming back from a performance hiatus that also included weening herself off of serious drugs while dealing with 24/7 media exposure and people chasing at her with cameras for the last few years...wouldn't you be a little on-edge getting back in the saddle after that? I sure know I would.

I can't stand fans of musicians who can't seem to look past the art and realize there is a HUMAN creating it. A flawed and normal human with extraordinary talent who faces extraordinary pressures. Blows my mind.

Her ear monitor wasn't working right and she couldn't hear herself properly. I think Mitch also mentioned that in the book.
I read a positive blog entry about this performance, it said that in the 2nd half Amy really did a good show and the audience even danced to "You Know I'M no good" and a few other songs in the end.

So that gig wasn't as negative as all the press & blogs were saying.
Amy flies in paradise

I remember this in the book. She had technical issues.

Anywho, I could understand why the audience was frustrated. The fans are the ones that make entertainers millions of dollars. If you comes to watch a performer perform, they better be in their "A game". But I could also understand the press maybe making it out worse than it could be. Towards the end of this video, you can hear Amy singing loud and she sounded good.

The worst performance (we all know) is Belgrade. I'd want my money back for that too & I'd be mad that they made her perform in that condition. When I first seen those clips of Belgrade before she died, it just broke my heart and still does.

That does resemble Amy, getting pissed off at the organisers for not sorting out their technical shit, so giving them a half-assed performance in return. But I can't help but think that the 'technical fault' excuse was used by her entourage and father to cover something else up. A bit like calling her throwing up on stage 'a stocmach bug'...
