Beehive Aw sweets, she does an amazing job on that song for sure but she didn't write those lyrics. It's a cover. Go to 24:10 after you download this: http://www.sendspace.com/file/yvyk68 (click "click here to start download from sendspace")
You can hear a bit of the original and her talking about it.

@allisost Lol omg I feel dumb. I always thought she was inspired by the song "I'm In The Mood For Love" to sing ''Moody's Mood For Love'', and just changed some lines in the lyrics, idk.
Now I just googled it and I saw it was a James Moody song lol. Sad.

But anyways, I can name other songs that have beautiful lyrics, like What It Is 'And I'm so tired, I can't even cry'
And in You Sent Me Flying, 'How much more torture would you have put me through?'
'It's not just my pride, it's just till these tears have dried', Rehab.

There are just too many. Every song has a special line that gives me goosebumps, haha :)

Yeah. The lyrics were written by James Moody to fit a saxophone riff by the great jazz innovator Charlie Parker. Very few singers even try to sing it and fewer can sing it well. Amy was one of those "fewer" singers.

Don't feel dumb! At first I thought she wrote it too because it fit her so perfectly. I was disappointed when I read the writers. But she could have written it because she's that brilliant!

I must correct this. My source for this was wrong. James Moody did an instrumental version of this in 1948. In 1952 jazz singer and lyricist Eddie Jefferson wrote lyrics for it and entitled it "Moody's Mood for Love". Sorry!

You went back to what you knew so far removed From all that we went through And I tread a troubled track, my odds are stacked I'll go back to black

"Like smoke I hung around in the unbalanced." -> I love that line so much I am going to get it tatted on me!

As a whole, "Long day" describes my life right now. "Rehab" no one's ever tried to send me to rehab, but I am close to my father and he thinks my life is okay. Everything about Rehab is so sad and true, "said I just think you're depressed. This me, yeah baby and then the rest..."

"Tears dry on their own" -> "I knew I hadn't met my match, but every moment we could snatch. I don't know why I got so attached. It's my responsibility, you don't owe nothing to me. But to walk away I have no capacity."

"Some Unholy War" -> "B, I would of died to. I'd like to."

"Half Time" -> "You should thank your lucky star. Cuz the music is a gift. And it's stronger than all else. Provides me with the bliss."

"Know you now" -> "You're just a little boy underneath that hat. You need the nerve to hide your ego. Don't come with that..." "I gotta know you now. We may never meet again. I gotta know you now and then."

All of "Fuck me Pumps"

"This face in my dreams seizes my guts He floods me with dread Soaked in soul, he swims in my eyes by the bed Pour myself over him, moon spilling in And I wake up alone"

"Realize that you don't have to answer to no man Responsibility comes down to you But how can I expect you to understand When you live life like its so run through"

"I'm sitting on the royal flush
Women drink him in, swimming in his green eyes
Then go home and catch the chips you've got
And Here Maybe two
Oh two bottles of
The jack of heart is my jackpot"

"simple, sweet guitar
humbled by the bass
when the beat kicks in
everything falls in to place"

"And life is like a pipe
And I'm a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside"

"And although he's nothing in the scheme of my years It just serves to bludgeon my futile tears And I'm not used to this, no, no, I observe, yeah I don't chase But now I'm stuck with consequences thrust in my face"

"Why you so upset?
Baby, you weren't there and I was thinking of you when I came"

"What kind of fuckery is this ?"

"Its got me addicted, does more than any dick did"

"Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods"

"With a pickup that puts you to shame"

"blue without my green"

"Feel so fucking angry, don't wanna be reminded of you"

"
And I see the leafs are growing
Little buds are showing
Reach out a hand
Invite him to the thrown"

When I first heard Amy I didn't pay any attention to the lyrics. All I could hear was that voice. I listened to her as one would listen to an instrument. The lyrics were inconsequential. She was a master of her instrument (her voice). Someone once said she understood music and not just contemporary music but all music. I think that is true. I guess the lyrics are the icing on the cake although they reveal a lot of the pain she felt. What a terrible loss to humanity.

I think the voice is what immediately grabs you, but then when you really listen to the words, you realize how absolutely brilliant she was.
