Surprised to see this is a cover of Etta James (guess my music knowledge is a bit slack)
Amazing thought, without a doubt it's for Amy, she had amazing eyes, wish I had seen them in person. This song is AMAZING, and so is Clare as it turns out. Weird hey?? I've listened to his stuff and it's really fn good. Whaddya think?

Yeah I saw this a while ago but never thought about it being for Amy... could be. Of course it can't compare to Etta ;) It was on his 2012 album, so when was it recorded?

The way he sings it, I'm just speculating, but it sounds like it's for Amy, because her eyes were mesmerising. Clare is very talented, and it's interesting that Amy did her best work in terms of recording while she was with him, had his support. Of course she had it within her no matter what, but I can totally see why she fell for him after seeing him perform at the Hawley Arms. He's very talented. Digression, but it seems like he became orthodox Jewish after the breakup also, although he had a secular upbringing. I wonder if him and Amy were friends. I always thought it as interesting how she wore the Star of David in her last years, like she was wanting to accept a higher power, like in Aa. Maybe his influence slightly plus her heritage?

ive heard 4 songs and i love them ALL! AND the videos?!! waaay cool.
thank you for sharing this info,, he avoids talking about amy ( guess he already did all the talking he could ) but his music is excellent. props for standing alone.
there isnt much happening in the dance music industry, meaning there are no new artists making NEW things, new sounds lately. it's all old, already visited .. twice-digested stuff. meh. not exciting. but then i hear alex clare bringing dubstep and other electronic dance music sounds into a rock/soul ballad, with live drums and live guitars, and i was just blown away how good this stuff is and how it sounds. im glad i slowed down to listen, because it's very good.

I didn't like his 'hit' song Too Close until i listened to it a few times. Maybe a memory of television ads or something. But he is phenomenal! Props.

I just listened to "Too close" and was like oh wow so thats him!! haha was quite popular when it came out! gotta say his music is pretty good!! can't help feeling on most of them though that its about Amy.. like in the one below the lines "I know you're someone else's, And I'm sure he needs you" - it feels a bit like an answer to Amy's song You know I'm no good ;D I wish she could have fall for Alex so bad like Blake, he seems like a much more decent guy..she might still be singing for us then :(

I stumbled upon this video of Alex Clare from 2007. I wonder if the song is about Amy.

I just read this in a magazine scan yesterday, never heard Alex talking about Amy really, but sounds like poor guy got pretty heartbroken so I could imagine he would put it into songs like Amy did with her heartbreak:

He mentioned Amy's eyes in the kiss-and-tell interview he gave in 2007.
