I was comparing the 2 recordings of this tune and noticed that Paul Weller's singing was almost identical between these performances while Amy varied her phrasing of almost every word. I thought the contrast between these two musicians made an interesting demonstration of Amy's extraordinary improvisation/phrasing skills. Unlike Weller, she never sings a song the same way twice. Every performance is completely unique.

She clearly sings according to what she feels! In the hootenanny version she was obviously in a better mood, but i think that after 2004 her skills were expressed (e.g. North jazz sea festival was at the performance level of hootenany, when at V festival 2008 she would be much lower than The first dont go to strangers!!!)
