Although I like Amy's first album, I can't help but think what it would've been if it had been composed mostly of all those B-sides or unreleased songs you find on Youtube, which in my opinion show a different side of Amy (more contemporary), with a palpable influence of Erykah Badu or even Ms. Dynamite.

To be honest, I think I actually prefer those songs to the ones that made the final cut on Frank :

  • Long Day
  • When My Eyes
  • Alcoholic Logic
  • Beat the Point to Death
  • Procrastination
  • Get Over It
  • Close to the Front
  • etc.

Amy often said in her interviews that she didn't think hip-hop and jazz were incompatible, and I find that these songs better embody that statement than most of her songs on Frank. If you only ever heard Frank, it would be hard to understand where she was coming from.

I prefer the songs on frank. Although i like the b sides i feel like some of them are slightly "popy". You can definatly hear the influence from erykah badu and ms dynamite (very R n B) but I much prefer the jazz/hip hop mix, i think it suits her better. I wish Amy had had more control over what did and didnt end up on the final cut of frank tho - i think it would have been a more consistent sounding album if this were the case

What? Frank is my favorite album of all time. I think it's P E R F E C T!

But then again anything featuring Amy's vocals makes me wanna say that.

I've always thought they would have been cool as a separate album. Maybe add in Help Yourself and Amy Amy Amy, since they seem to have a similar sound.
