I've just come across this gem. I remember vividly watching this in 2010. This is a real proof of her talent and perhaps one of her best videos on Youtube. Many people say that drugs ruined her voice or talent. On the contrary, this video shows that her capacity to record a 3rd album as amazing as her 2nd one, was still there.I think her death was a real tragedy to the music industry. I still can't believe she is gone. I know she is in paradise, drinking wine with the angels, but I want to touch her, to listen to her, at least for 40 seconds. Amy reminds me of Billie, Ella, Ripperton and many more legends. As a jazz lover, I'd say she is the best of them.

Does anybody know the lyrics to this song? Could you figure it out? Since English is not my first language, I find it hard to guess the lyrics. As far as I know, this is a cover of Backwater Blues. Amy also sang a cover of "I Heard It Through The Gravepine" that night (IDK why nobody recorded that).

I always liked this too.  I remember thinking "yep, she can sing the blues too!".  Even for someone whose first language is English, it's pretty hard to make out what she is singing.  I think she is ad libbing a bit, like blues singers do but she definitely sings about packing her bags and throwing them on a boat.  In the Dina Washington/Bessie Smith versions they say "I packed all my clothes, throwed 'em in and they rowed me along".  The song seems to be about a flood after lots of rain and trying to get to safety because her house has been destroyed.  A boat comes along and rows her to safety.

I'm not gonna meet your mother anytime

This is one of those things that proves that she was meant to be in intimate gigs. She always did fantastic. Even in 2008 and here, in 2010 when people said she had lost it. She wasnt meant for thousands and thousands to be singing along with her heartbreak.
