GRAMMY Museum to Celebrate 13th Anniversary of Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" With Instagram Live Event
The commemorative event will take place on April 30, featuring JoJo, Naomi Perry
Apr 29, 2020 - 1:12 pm

Having recently rolled out a series of at-home exhibits and programming including retrospectives on Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, Ella Fitzgerald and others, as well as a digital songwriting workshop with Boi-1da, the GRAMMY Museum is further expanding its online offerings considering its extended closure due to COVID-19.

Tomorrow (Thursday, April 30), from 2 – 3 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, the museum will host an Instagram Live event in commemoration of late soul icon and six–time GRAMMY winner Amy Winehouse for the 13th anniversary of the release of her beloved single "Back To Black." The hour-long event will feature Winehouse’s former stylist Naomi Perry and multi-platinum recording artist JoJo, who cites Winehouse as one of her biggest musical inspirations, in addition to the late artist’s close friend Catriona Gourlay and journalist Eve Barlow.

According to a statement, the livestreamed discussion will "highlight the impact of Winehouse’s music and fashion with those who worked with her and were influenced by her."

The physical exhibit Beyond Black – The Style of Amy Winehouse was opened to the public in January and had originally been set to run through April 2020, before mass closures following the escalation of the coronavirus pandemic took place. Luckily, following tomorrow's live event, a virtual installation of the exhibit will be available on the GRAMMY Museum’s website for fans to enjoy from their homes.

Beyond Black offers an intimate look at the life, legacy and prolific impact of Winehouse's career on music, fashion and pop culture through her biggest influences, most iconic style moments and her two acclaimed studio albums. The exhibit also features never-before-seen handwritten lyrics and journal entries from the artist.

For more information on the event, the virtual exhibit and other additional programming visit the GRAMMY Museum’s site.
