AMY Winehouse has a big heart as well as a big bank balance.
Recently we spotted the wild-breasted warbler giving a poor homeless man £50 outside Sports Direct in Camden.
The 26-year-old sat chatting to him about wild animals before giving him a big kiss and walking off.We knew she was a good ’un.

^That brought tears to my eyes, actually.
Amy Winehouse died, and she's taken a part of my soul with her. May that part be the love that I felt for her, and may the love that I still feel for her be the undying part of us both.

From a Sharleen Spiteri interview in The Guardian:

Name a song you wish you'd written.
Back to Black [by Amy Winehouse]. Its lyrics make it one of the all-time greats.

Mick Hucknall:

"Amy Winehouse has a wonderful voice. Her problems are well documented but she has the best tone since Vera Lynn. "Dame Vera is extremely underrated as a singer. She has an extraordinary tone, and Amy is similar.

At my age I should be the first one to jump on and trash Ms Winehouse. Sorry, isn' t going to happen. I have a daughter, 2 Granddaughters and now a Great Granddaughter. So I have some experience with the little ladies. Drugs? None of mine have been on them. Sex, that' s a whole other story. Thus, Great Grandfather. But a blessing. Ms Winehouse is a young Lady that has a few problems. Talent isn' t one. Give her a break. Love her and support her. She will come around and be OK.

We'll Meet Again:

Gorgeous. This song gives me the chills (in a good way). Dame Vera's voice reminds me slightly of Edith Piaf.

^Kubrick uses it at the end of Dr Stragelove. Apparently it was the inspiration for the Byrds to cut the song, giving it that jingle jangle folk rock sound from the sixties

And don't forget 'Try a Little Tenderness' as the opener, too. He used music better than any film director ever has. Stanley Kubrick = God.

Quincy:

“She's a smart little girl,” Jones tells Rolling Stone. “She knew all the records I made with Dinah Washington all those years ago. I asked her if she would contribute a song to the album. I asked her first to do [Lesley Gore’s]‘You Don’t Owe Me,’ and she said she wanted to do ‘It’s My Party.’” Here Jones talks about the new disc, the origin of the phrase “hip hop” and the violence he suffered growing up in Chicago. What does Amy’s version of the song sound like?
It sounds like Amy. What can I say, man? Nobody sounds like her. She's been going through a lot of stuff, but she came on through, man. Everybody was saying “You’ll never get her” and all that stuff. “Blah blah blah…” You know how the press is today — it’s lethal, with [all the] haters and negative shit. But she and Mark came on in and they did it. She has a great voice. She’s from another planet.

Quincy Jones has been around and seen it all in the music world. I have nothing but awe and respect for him. That he sees Amy's gift as something very special is of no surprise to me. He would know

She’s from another planet.

In terms of her talent and beauty, she does seem to be a more advanced species than homo sapiens at times. Though residual human elements trip her up at times.
