ANNIE LENNOX is urging music fans to ignore AMY WINEHOUSE's erratic personal life and concentrate on her incredible voice instead. The ex-Eurythmics star is amazed by the 23-year-old's singing, and wishes the press and public would spend more time focusing on her talent. Lennox tells Spinner.com, "Everybody loves Amy Winehouse's music. I love Amy Winehouse's music. I think she's a genius. "I went to see her perform when she was 18, and I heard her first album when it was in demo form... and I was like, 'This child, she is like whoa! How does an 18-year-old sound like she's 60 in the best possible way, i.e. a seasoned jazz singer like something you've never heard before?' "So, to me, she's profound. Forget about all the rest, about all the troubles and all that. There's something about her that resonates with everybody."

She knows what she's talking about - and what a voice she has, too!

people who can see betond the troubles know how rare she is and what a talent she is
those that cant, i blame the media and the shite that floods the charts now days
shity bands to attract the teenage girls and make them rattle their money boxes eg mcfly
all them dance things, that sound 90% the same
all the people churned out from reality shows
at least those in the know can see past it all

It's neat to see a top talent like Annie Lennox, one of the best female voices in pop music, using words like "genius" and "profound" when talking about Amy, and obviously meaning it, obviously being in real awe about Amy's gift.

And it's not just Annie Lennox but also people like Elton John, Prince, and Mick Jagger. When's the last time something like that has happened?

Although, I'll never be able to "ignore Winehouse's troubles" per se because I just care too much about the woman as a person. I could never just listen to the music and ignore the person behind it. Though I think what Lennox really means is, don't let Amy's troubles blind you to the brilliance of Amy's music.

Exactly, people shouldn't be so involved with these celebs private lives. Amy has an amazing voice and her actions off stage shouldn't be reported more than her music.

Wise.
And everyone is writing about her as if they know her, analyzing her life, problems and marriage. You don't know her! You can't judge her based on what the tabloids say; if she has problems, she's got her dad and friends to help her, just let her do her thing! And besides, in the past there were a lot of musicians who did drugs (hell, some of the best records ever were made with a little help of various substances), that doesn't make it right, but back than there wasn't so much pressure from the media or paparazzi, it makes it all look much worse I reckon.

It would be sad to think she can only write and sing with the help of drugs, but we do know that drugs are holding her back from performing her best right now. I am so looking forward to seeing her back to her brilliant old self, and without the crutch of drugs!

Amy we know you can do it!!
