There's no guarantee she would've gotten her shit together if she had kids (always the risk of a relapse), and even worse, her kids could've been taken away from her...then she'd have something to write about. I really don't picture a happy future for her had she lived.

Well, I see that we all see the lost possibility of having a family and raising kids for Amy as all roses (like "and they lived happily ever after"). It's not like that or rather it's not always like that. Family life can be difficult, annoying, horrible, boring, sad and beautiful as well, I'm sure you know...

I agree. It was actually in my head as I was writing my little blob, I just didn't put it in there that family doesn't mean happily ever after. But I don't necessarily think she would have ever had her kids taken away... I just can't imagine she would have let it get to that point for some reason, especially if she was doing better with Reg. I don't think there should be such hopelessness with addiction. I mean should I not have kids because I could relapse into depression? No one is really an ideal parent. And sometimes your struggles make you an even better role model because you've worked through them. But my main point was it would have been interesting to see what lyrics would have come out of her having a family life... with it's ups and downs, or maybe she would have kept that private and written about more of her personal conflicts... aren't those something we all continue to have?

I don't know, I mean Brittney Spears lost her kids and she never seemed as out of control as Amy did. You can imagine the scenario: a few years down the line, Reg leaves Amy and takes their kids with him as she's been seeing Blake again and is back on the drugs, and he convinces the courts that she's not fit to be a mother. It happens all the time. Of course, it might not have happened that way, but I'm glad we never got to find out in a way.

This is the kind of pictures that I refuse to watch. I always feel too guilty. I don't know about Amy, but if I was in her shoes, I would not want people to see me in this state.
