Unfortunately it can't be watched online (I think).
PS: Sorry if this has been posted before, I can't remember seeing it on here but it is a programme from a couple of years ago.
Bruised, battered and desparate for a fag she may be, but Amy is our 21st Century Piaf: flawed yet fabulous, tormented yet towering. Think of her this way and hope that the still remarkably young woman under the eyeliner thinks that way too. - Jude Rogers, The Word

Damn, I missed it! That was "Kings of Cool: The Crooners", Sat. 14 Feb., 22.45, BBC2. There was no mention of Amy in my TV guide, and the Yahoo TV listings didn't mention her either:Did anyone see this? It was on BBC2 last night and they had clips of Amy talking about Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Tony Bennett. This was filmed during the Frank era. Amy was in it about 5 to 7 times.
Unfortunately it can't be watched online (I think).

Kings of Cool: The Crooners
Honor Blackman narrates a celebration of some of the most stylish musical icons of the last century, the crooners such as Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett and Andy Williams. Featuring interviews with friends, family members and the new breed of crooners such as Michael Buble and Jamie Cullum.

My TV guide didn't say that it was a repeat, but actually, reading your post, I was sure I saw it before also, thank goddess!I remember seeing it a while ago. Amy talked about Sinatra, saying something like that he was a bit of a tosser but a great singer, but what I remember best was her saying how supremely cool Dean Martin was and how she would love to have hung out with him. I can totally relate to her on this, I adore Dino!

Not thoughts, so it appears. :'-( No interest, perhaps? >:-( Or was I so off-topic that it fell off the chart? :amyshock: Oh, horror, you've made me quote myself! :amyshock:By the way, a bit off-topic, and it might already have been a topic before, I'm interested to hear what anybody who saw "The Girl Done Good" thinks about it?

This documentary (no concert) really helped me to understand why I, somewhat inexplicably, like her music. Various music experts pretty much dissect the various tracks on her two albums, and not only entertainingly explain, but also demonstrate through video clips, how Amy has been influenced by Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, The Motown Sound, The Stax Sound, among others. They also show how Hip Hop is a big influence in the extended version tracks of her second album. I found it fascinating to see how a Jewish North London girl with a heavy accent can transformer her voice into the Black jazz, blues, soul, hip hop singer sound, but with her own distinctive style. And of course there is a lot in this documentary about the trials and tribulations of her childhood and current personal life which obviously heavily impacted her song writing. This is actually an interesting DVD documentary even if you've never heard of Amy Winehouse.

I don't recommend you rent this unless you are (or want to be) an Amy Winehouse fan. The documentary is an in-depth look at Amy's music done by music industry experts and other musicians. I appreciated learning more about Amy's background. Discovering that she started as a serious jazz singer with the respect and admiration of the industry puts a different light on this troubled soul. We can only hope that Amy gets through this period of her life and continues to make her unique brand of beautiful, compelling and intelligent music.

I get sick and tired of DVDs that have people I've seldom, if ever, heard of talking about a band or artist I like. I guess that this is in part due to the fact I'm most times renting DVDs where I already know the details the people commenting are presenting and all they seem to be doing otherwise is stating their opinions. But in this case, not knowing much (other than the media/tabloid problems related to Winehouse) about Amy Winehouse, I actually enjoyed hearing opinions and facts. Being uninformed about Winehouse prior to watching the DVD was better than being informed I believe. Another thing I liked about the DVD is its use of some live performances, interviews, and other TV video of Winehouse. Having heard her voice and liking what I heard, it was nice to see some live pieces. Despite her train wreck (according to the media) life, she is a pretty and talented artist. I give this DVD a 3.5 star rating
