I think I would feel bad reading it because it is exclusive. It sounds like there are a lot of things in this book that Amy and her family wouldn't want the rest of the world to know, so I don't feel the need to know these things. The fact that some stranger writes a book revealing other people's secrets or personal problems bothers me.

yeah, but they did agree to it. and even if they aren't happy with the outcome, they shouldn't have agreed to it in the first place to be honest...
the book has very little to do with amy herself - all of daphne's encounters with her in the book is when she is only there as 'mitch's friend'

Yeah, you're right actually. They did agree to it, but they shouldn't have (and I suppose the book didn't exactly become what they thought it would be).
And I go back to... I go back to us.

Bruised, battered and desparate for a fag she may be, but Amy is our 21st Century Piaf: flawed yet fabulous, tormented yet towering. Think of her this way and hope that the still remarkably young woman under the eyeliner thinks that way too. - Jude Rogers, The Word

Not sure they knew what they were signing up for. Naive, but still..

I hear what you're saying Sarah, and after thinking about it, I don't know if I really want to read it, either. I think the Winehouses were naive, at the very worst.

Yes, they talked to Barak of their own free will, but this woman seems to insinuate herself quite easily into people's lives. Not everyone is street-smart enough to know when they are being stitched up for a hatchet job.

Their words/ actions could have been slanted to make them look 'worse' (whatever that means) than they really are. Also, we have no way of knowing if everything (anything?) this sleazy 'journalist' says is actually true. If it's not true, then she's just sick in the head and a gold-digging creep. Well, she's definitely a gold-digging creep.

1.0 out of 5 stars A waste of money and time., 12 Mar 2010

This is a truly terrible book, replete with more references to the author than it is to Amy Wínehouse. It is disconnected, disjointed and thoroughly disappointing. New Holland must be groaning that they didn't give this to anyone else to sort out; it reads like the deranged twitterings of a narcissistic gadfly instead of telling me anything important about Amy Winehouse. Saving Amy - more like Starring Daphne. A waste of money and time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 8 Mar 2010

(REAL NAME)
This book offers absolutely nothing new and interviews with Mitch simply regurgitate what I've already heard in documentaries and in tabloids.

Apparently based on personal recollections from the author's DIARY of all places, much of the book is opinion-based - self-indulgent rambling without much relevance to the issue.

The book provides a brief and disjointed bio of Amy's rise to fame among her own opinions. It fails miserably to achieve the in-depth analysis I was expecting of Amy's addictions, their root causes and the future that lies ahead for the singer.

If you want a history of her work, read Chas Newkey-Burden's book, or a similar bio, and if you want a book about "Saving Amy", trust me - this isn't it.

Hello, I've finally found what happened to Daphne Barak's documentary "Saving Amy" (we were wondering all some time ago).

For those who don't remember:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1189186/Inside-Amy-Winehouses-Caribbean-hideaway-New-documentary-shows-troubled-singers-battle-stay-clean.html

"Daphne hopes to release Saving Amy in cinemas later this year [2010?], but has yet to find a distributor."

---oh god, i hope it won't happen..

Voila how the story ends:

Mitch's tweets (from Fabruary 2010):

Quote:

@Linn_SayItPR There is no Barak docum. i stopped it. Thats why she has this unauthorised book.

Recently I heard that the film can be released anyway. Is it true?
