I'm not saying that Amy's parents don't love her-- I would never, because I'm not that arrogant and I know that's not the case. What I am saying is that you have to make someone WANT to do it. They have to REALLY see how much they have to lose if they don't get themselves together. I mean, sure, Amy's career isn't the best right now, and her relationship with Blake disbanded, but does she truly realise that it happened because of the drugs? Does she realize that she can't have both things-- music and drugs, family and drugs, good friends and drugs, etc? Of course someone has to want to help themselves. But there's no reason the people close to her can't make helping herself seem like a much better alternative to whatever they propose.
If nothing else, Amy should at least be in some mandatory intense therapy, because she's not herself and she's not seeing clearly.
Wealth provides the shield that is keeping Winehouse afloat, wealth is what is keeping people around her and by supporting, their own interests are met. Seriously, if she was broke, things would change, seriously change.

Oh sure, wealth is a factor, but there are millions of addicts in the world who don't have 1/10th of the money that Amy has and still manage to find a fix. The bottom line is that Amy can do all the drugs she wants, but nothing changes, and nothing is taken away from her for it. Her record company turned a blind eye to it for so long (and I'm sure still wouldn't care that she's doing drugs, so long as she was "functional"-- ie able to release an album for them to make money from), and while her parents might be severely disappointed and heartbroken, in the end, she can still call Mitch up and he'll coddle her and tell her everything's okay.
I'm torn, because I love Amy and I don't even know her personally, so I can't even imagine how much stronger Mitch's love for her must be. It is probably next to impossible to resist her when she comes to him crying, or totally fucked up out of her mind on drugs. He wants to support her, he wants to be there for her because what if he wasn't? What if she went off and did MORE drugs and died? There is always that fear-- especially with someone like Amy who clearly has co-dependency and abandonment issues (among others)-- that if you push her away, it'll push her over the edge and she'll wind up dead. But what's the difference, really? If you give her an ultimatum and threaten to cut her off and remove yourself from her life, she MIGHT react badly and overdose. If you stand by and continue to wait for her to come begging for help, she'll kill herself slowly. The end result could very much be the same, but at least with one way, she has a fighting chance.
I hate to be so harsh about it, but when someone gets to the point that Amy was at when she went to St. Lucia months ago, it's high time that you leave her no choice BUT to get clean. I'm so proud of her for having made such strides, and I truly want to believe that while she's back in London, she's not gone back to drugs, but something just tells me otherwise, I don't know. And I worry so much for her, and want so much for her to get better, but then it's like, what's worrying going to do when I can't do anything? I'm sure her parents worry about her too. The point is that they have the power to do something about it.

I think her parents have tried very hard to help her--in multiple ways, including "tough love"--but she just hasn't cooperated a lot. If she doesn't agree to get help, and she can't legally be forced to get help, what can do they do? That's the quandary they've been in most of the time.
