^Countless valuable points. As to the desirability or neccesity of help or therapy: only if she wants it will anything in that direction be able to do her any good. For it to be forced upon her would be a grave mistake. And were she to choose it, then it'd have to be in a form that she understands, believes in and freely chooses. She's far beyond the effects of tough-love, which, in the form of a level of strictness, her parents probably should've indeed imposed in her younger years.

Disclaimer: I sound like a family-therapist, a veritable Dr. Phil! (No offence intended to anyone of that name.) I don't try to be, but understanding the causes of Amy's troubles, behaviour and preferences (amongst which a bad taste for "Borstal B."), is a journey that all who love her are bound to take.;-)

I still believe that Amy(and I've got expertise here)is or could be borderline personality disorder.

I know borderliners and there's no one that can tame that shit. It can be done but takes years of therapy and a fine mix of meds.

I think we all say the same thing, more or less, but it all comes down to nature and nurture.

No one disease is to blame. No one parent is to blame. But Amy has Amy issues. Look at Alex, same house, close to same age. He's no guttersnipe(love that word).

Let me set something straight here, Mitch and Janis are and always will be the blame of Amy downfall. This all started at 9 years old when she would disrespect Janis by swearing at her, throwing things at her calling her awful things etc... evidently this lead to her getting into a wrong crowd and this is where she found srugs. Fame and Blake are just adding to her already troubled self and homelife and her longing to be seen, heard and LOVED. I makes me so angry the way Mitch noly now decides to give Amy attention after all these years! and Jnis is a weak mother always has been when it came to Amy and they havent done enough for her ever.
the only person that can really help her now is Alex. He is and always has been her role model, but he needs to step up instead of rolling his eyes.
I love this girl with everything i have but i cant let people write about how her parents have tried to help.

I don't know the Winehouse family personally but Mitch and Janis have been using Amy's name for publicity for the past three years.

reminded me of 4 yr old amy hitting her dad in the documentary.

This further helps me understand how and why Amy was so close to her Nan, Cynthia..

I have always viewed Janis as no match for a wilful Amy, partly because of the completely different personalities, and partly because of Janis's illness,
as a matter of survival....

And I can see how Amy and Cynthia would get along famously, and the respect Amy would have for her nan...how they would be able to relate to each other as creative people...something that Janis prob does not share with Amy...
