Everyone has their opinions - no one is 'right', no one is 'wrong'. Let's feel free to post these opinions without being directly criticized for expressing them - is that OK?

Expressing my views is exactly what I do, so there shouldn't be a problem.
Amy Winehouse died, and she's taken a part of my soul with her. May that part be the love that I felt for her, and may the love that I still feel for her be the undying part of us both.

very interesting footage...
the only thing I can see in this is that Mitch will probably never be shy and that Amy is a real G, she can do what she wants whenever she wants

I was in tears throughout most of it, as I recalled my daughter's descent into addiction. Mitch echoed, almost verbatim, everything my ex and I said throughout our ordeal. The toll it took on our family was HELL!!!

Our every waking moment was consumed with our daughter's problem. My marriage broke up over it, my husband couldn't take it anymore. Our younger daughter even starting cutting herself in a bid for the attention her sister was getting. Her scars are a daily reminder of those dark years.

If not for my wonderful therapist, a strong, supportive, Italian family, beta blockers and anti-depressants, I don't think I could have survived it. The anxiety attacks Mitch spoke of was omnipresent.

Six years later, and through the Winehouse family story, are my daughters & I finally able to talk it all through & put our ordeal into into perspective.

My ex and I have forged an amicable relationship, much like Mitch & Janis' as well.

Amy is the only one who can pull herself out of it, as my daughter did, on her own timetable.

I never gave up on my daughter, in fact, loved her more fiercely, even as she exasperated me. She thanks me now for never giving up on her.

The one thing that impressed me the most when I first started reading up on Amy, was that she "comes from family." My family always used that phrase when judging the character of a person.

It would be interesting to see if those who criticise Mitch are actual parents themselves? You have every right to criticise Mitch and of course you are entitled to your own views. but I do think your views change once you become a parent. I think there is one thing we can all agree with is at the end of the day Mitch loves Amy and Amy loves her dad.

It's true, I'm not a parent. I'm the aunt, sister, niece and cousin of substance abusers. From 2 years of age to the present, I've seen what Mitch, Sassy and others have gone thru. You don't have to be a parent to suffer the pain of loving an addict.

The difference is, Amy is a celebrity and in the public eye, as is Britney Spears. Britney went thru similar situation, and her father, had her 'sectioned' and is taking custody of her finances. Do you hear any interviews from him? Is he talking to the press? No.

I'm not criticizing Mitch being concerned about his daughter, far from it. I think it's admirable! However, I have to question his making a documentary about his daughter, and it turned into a documentary about himself. Amy is famous for throwing tantrums, and appearing 'in an altered state'. Instead, Mitch makes excuses and plays the blame game. Even Janis, has said let her go. As long as people are picking up the pieces and excusing Amy's behavior, it's only going to get worse.

I'm not sure what to think about the documentary. It was nice seeing some footage of Amy, but I think Mitch should have asked Amy if she agrees with him comming over with a film crew, rather then just showing up at her doorstep like that. I can't imagine what it must be for him (and the rest of her family) dealing with Amy's addiction, but I'm not sure this was the right time to come out with this, as Amy is still at the beginning with her recovery. She made a point of removing herself from the public eye a bit, with going to Caribbean, getting a ban for paparazzi, and he made not one, but two documentaries. After the way things turned out with that Daphne woman, why would he go and do it all over again?

I finally had some time to watch the documentation ...

As a lot of others already said I also felt extremely uncomfortable seeing that Mitch just comes with a camera team to St. Lucia without Amy's permission. Poor her! In general I don't like it too much when families of celebrities are in the media too much. Amy has paparazzis around all day anyways and the last piece of private life Mitch is kinda giving away on a daily basis.
The fact that the documentary was more about him was maybe because Amy didn't agree to shoot too much footage for this. I'm sure Mitch meant well with this but still it's kinda weird to me to see him in the spotlight. I believe him that he truly loves and cares about Amy and that he is extremely worried and that the whole situation makes him sick but in my opinion a documentary about him suffering isn't the right way to feel better. It's good to see that he goes through therapy himself though ...

One thing that really bothered me is the fact that I got the feeling that Amy kinda looked bad in this documentary ... she kinda looked like this uncontrolled wild kid that always needs her dad around. I know she struggels with a lot and she is ... i mean she is just Amy haha but still I didn't get a good vibe from this ...

The performance was great though! I wish there would have been more of it in there ...

guess i have to watch it again. i don't remember hearing expicitly that Mitch showed up with cameras without her consent. could she have agreed and then changed her mind? he faces the camera and very honestly questions what he's trying to do, perhaps after a meeting with her. But that doesn't mean she didn't consent to it initially

^You're right, she might have agreed and then changed her mind. She just seems to be very uncomfortable with cameras around while in St. Lucia, so I guess that's why I came to that conclusion. And because of her twitter post after documentary aired.

Did this doc make anyone else want to punch Mitch? He's really becoming the Michael Lohan of the UK- using and exploiting his daughter to gain attention for himself. Amy crumbled essientially under the spotlight- so here's a great idea- let's bring a camera crew to the island she's recovering on and exploit her a little more! I love the part when he tells the cameras they have to go away and tries to make himself look like the protector. You know what really happened was Amy gave him a piece of her mind and told him to fuck off with that camera crew. It's sad to say but the most intimate details we know about Amy's life aren't from tabloids or the papparazi-they are from her father's own mouth. If I was Amy I'd cut the bloodsucker loose for a while. He needs to have a little more respect for her and her privacy especially when she's going through such a fragile time. What a coincidence he has an album coming out soon!

Not at all. Mitch isn't perfect, far from it. I don't understand this need to vilify Mitch quite frankly. I doubt Amy would be arround if it weren't for Mitch, and we certainly wouldn't be here if that had not been the case.
Sorry, I just dont feel the animosity towards him that you do. Whatever attention he can bring to drug addiction and our children, however misguided it may be, is a good thing imo.
