Amy gives her cats away
Amy Winehouse has given away her collection of pet cats after struggling to take care of them, according to a report.
The singer asked an animal shelter to collect her feline friends before she jetted off to Jamaica earlier this week, The Sun claims.
A source said: "Amy was pretty upset about it because she loved them dearly, but she had to give them up.
"They were climbing all over the place, breeding and generally getting out of control."
It is thought that Winehouse once had 11 cats at her home, but later reduced the number to nine by giving two away to her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield.
The star is in Jamaica to complete work on the follow-up to her 2006 album Back To Black.

God! No wonder I'm a fan. My family has like 30 (it's a country house though) and I'm obssesed with cats since I can remember.
Glad she was sad about giving them away. Speaks a lot about her.

I'm alergic too Iulian, that's why I don't have any cats here at my place 
I've sponsored a black kitten (my soft spot) who's been adopted and sent to Germany now. They'll change my sponsored cat now and I'm utterly happy about that.

Congratulations to Amy for doing the responsible thing in this situation. I was really dismayed to hear the news, late last year, of Dale Bozzio's cat hoarding problems (Dale Bozzio was the lead singer of the band Missing Persons in the early 1980s). I'm glad that Amy didn't go down this path.
I have three cats, and they are a handful! They are energetic and rambunctious, just like little kids. If they stay in too long, they get "cabin fever." Fortunately, they have a fairly decent-sized yard to play in. I can't imagine what 11 would be like, especially if they couldn't go outside.
