So she's back home in England...

I wasn't at any of Amy's shows in Brazil, but from the videos posted here I would say she looked and sounded great and made a spectacular comeback, surpassing expectations. Her voice sounded powerful for the majority of the songs, and even though there was no new original material, the covers she sang were really good.

On the other hand I've seen some pretty mixed reviews around the net, stating she was stumbling around, appeared drunk/drugged/erratic, forgot lyrics, walked off the stage suddenly (people didn't realise she was promoting Zalon's songs there, maybe she should have made this clear to the confused audience?), didn't interact with the audience very well, and of course as expected a big deal was made about her falling over while attempting a pirouette.

I just can't see all this negativity in the (admittedly not always very high quality) videos of her performances, but like I said I wasn't there. The mixed reviews are just a bit confusing. If anyone from the forum was there I'd like to hear their verdict on the shows & opinion on the reviews...

Zalon speaks Amy and the brazilian tour

Zalon gave an interview, while in Brazil, to Plus TV. He spoke about Amy Winehouse, the brazilian tour and more! Make sure to read the interview, below.

Plus TV: You're now a signee of Amy's record label, Lioness Records. How do you feel about having your own album?
Zalon: I'm having a great time. I sang with Amy in 99% of her Back To Black tour and I learnt alot. Now my goal is to really bring my music to the public and share my perspective in the shows.

Plus TV: Are you thinking about dropping being Amy's backup singer to focus on your solo carreer?
Zalon: Well, my album is not finished yet. I worked with amazing producers like Mark Ronson, who produced Back To Black. We recorded a few songs: "The Click" and "What's A Man To Do," that I got to sing in the shows. Meanwhile, I'm happy to continue being her backing vocal. Her music is great as well as her audience.

Plus TV: What's the difference between working with Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse?
Zalon: Not much, as it is all about connecting with the music and seek truth through it.

Plus TV: Whose idea was for you to sing your solos in this brazilian tour?
Zalon: It was Amy's and some production crew. Brazilians are so kind! I had a great time.

Plus TV: How did the ideia of the brazilian tour came up?
Zalon: For more than a year I constantly received messages from Brazilian fans, on my Twitter and Facebook, asking us to do a show there. So I said to Amy's manager we had to go to Brazil. I'm not saying that the tour happened because of me, but I think I had something to do with it. [Laughs] When I found out we were going to Brazil, I got very excited as I never got before.

\"it was as if all the emotions in the universe suddenly were coming out of her mouth.\" --Entertainment Weekly music critic Chris Willman.

Unfortunately the gigs Amy did here in Brazil weren't recorded. :( We don't even have the audio...just amateur footages on YouTube.

The first three songs (Just Friends, B2B and Tears Dry On Their Own) were recorded and there's in YouTube some videos when brazilian TV programs show a bit of Back to Black. In the video below she sings Back to Black in Florianopolis (I was there ;D), after 1:30 and in the final they show more

This video makes me REALLY sad because thar day was much more fantastic than I could ever imagine. Since January 8th there isn't ONE day I don't think about this concert. I miss her so much.

(I'm sorry for any mistake, i'm not fluent lol)

I feel your pain.  I didn't know that she was going to be at SXSW in 2007 until after the fact.  One of the venues she played was maybe 8 blocks from where I worked.  I think I beat my head against the wall on that one.  Sorry you missed Rio.
