^I remember seeing that last summer and being so so hopeful. Hadn't seen her really in video singing much (I can't remember if this was before or after singing w/Mitch @city burlesque) but just hadn't seen much of her. I know it was after Ronson's birthday party where she did some impromptu 'Valerie' that was not quite that wonderful so to see this gave us hope.

this is the video that Reg talks about in the article stating that day last summer when the two of them had a wonderful day; went for bagels and then to a blues bar and she asked if she could sing.

One of my favourite Amy videos. Only a brilliant artist can improvise like this. They should show this when talking about her "final days", not the horrible Belgrade videos. She very much still had it in herself, despite of what some people say.

I started looking through comments to see if this was the first one, because there were some sweet comments from someone sitting right in front of her who instantly fell crazy-nuts in love, and found this from one of the guitarists:

Hi Folks, I'm the guitarist in the monkey shirt. It was an unforgettable day - and only 1 of the 2 songs we did. What was lost to history was a AMAZING version of "Heard It Through The Grapevine" - better than her version with Paul Weller. Amy had come to the Blues Bar in London's Kingly St where I was running an Open Mic that day. My friend Owen just finished his set and she wanted to sing. So we closed up with her. Owen and I were left stunned... you just dont see it on camera!

@TheGcWeekly Hi, this song was a completely unrehearsed jam between Amy, myself (Vlad Soriano) and my friend Owen Houlsten. She dropped in last year when I was hosting the Aint Nothin' But Blues Bar Open Mic on Saturday. This was the first song we played as we couldn't recall any motown songs. The 2nd song wasn't very good and stopped short. Then I remembered "Heard It Through the Grapevine". That song wasn't caught on camera. This footage is the only remaining one left on YouTube.

would have given my eye tooth to see a video of her singing grapevine. didn't think one could be better than that w/her and Paul Weller on Jules. boy oh boy....sure would have loved to have been there that day.

Just amazing. I downloaded it off Youtube just in case. The audio quality really makes it sounds like it was a live recording from the 60s or something (especially because of Amy's voice), which I think is a nice touch actually.

Really makes my heart break even more seeing she could do so much with her voice and knowing we're not gonna hear it anymore....this performace is just raw and wow!!
