POLICE are investigating after a report into the death of Amy Winehouse was sent to a complete stranger in an embarrassing mix-up.
The papers *— believed to outline the circumstances of how the Back to Black *singer died — were meant to be sent to the star’s family but were delivered to an unrelated member of the public *instead.
Luckily the recipient did the decent thing and handed the report in to a North London police station.

The inquest into the death of the chart-topping star will be held this week.
Rehab singer Amy, 27, was found dead at her North London home in July.
A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “Police were *informed that material relating to a forthcoming inquest may have been delivered to an incorrect address.
“The material has since been handed in. An inquiry is under way to establish the full circumstances.”

Wow, that really is embarrassing, even though the person that saw it handed it back in, I hope they don't do anything stupid like spreading details (if they got to read any of it anyway) >:-(

Gives you a lot of faith in the system, doesn't it? Thank God decent people still exist is all I can say - so many others would have sent that straight to the press.

Arseholes, to be so laxadasy, complacent with something so important, private, and esp as who she is, how on earth does someone balls up like that with that kind of info/documentation?

you would think that something like that would be sent registered mail, not in just the ordinary delivery system. When u take into consideration who it was, I think i would have hand-delivered them.

What, this story? Who knows, it might not be. Doesn't really matter though. If it is true, I'm glad this mysterious person saved her family from embarrassment.

Well if it is true its a blunder of the highest order.

If its not true then the originator of the 'story' should be in trouble as people shouldn't lie about stuff like this.

Believe me, if you lived in the UK you'd have no trouble believing it.

How many politicians and officials have lost or mislaid important government documents over the past few years? Official, secret information being left on trains or in taxis etc.

It's worryingly common.

And it might be the final report (as we're close to 26th)! What a shame!

BBC says the police have confirmed it: http://www.bbc.co.uk...london-15427689

Edit: This must have been the notification that families get so that, if they disagree with the findings, they can present witnesses and/or evidence at the inquest. Hope Mitch & Janis were satisfied that it was as well done as possible. I expect the final result to be either 'accidental' or 'misadventure' (acting stupid enough to be an accident magnet)
