In You Know I'm No Good, I know all these years I read somewhere it was slang for hickeys and went with that... but now that I think about it, I don't get it. In the video he grabs her elbow... carpet burns on elbows? Wouldn't it make more sense if the carpet burn was like "burns" she got on her knees from the carpet if she was on her knees? Why would he grab the elbow? LOL
I don't really get it. Someone make sense of this please? :dunno:

Tbh i don't really know. I got carpet burns on my elbows once so it can be done Sometimes the best lyrics are the ones that have a sense of mystery about them.

Yeah, I think it's definitely actual carpet burns. You could get them from being on your knees and elbows or on your back with your elbows propping you up behind you...not to get too graphic. I always thought "likkle" was strange but I just assumed it was another word for little.

I read somewhere it was of West Indian origin, and that lots of modern London slang terms come from Jamaica or other English-speaking islands.

I know that up north in the UK they also change words at times, little to likkle and hospital to hospikal are 2 i've heard a lot. Maybe Amy is known as Amy Winehousikle up there LOL

I'm a Manc, and we (God knows why0 put 'K's and 'G' where 'T and 'D' should be, middle, miggul, little likkul, that kind of thing, just the way we talk, i think likkil, is also like jus lil, pps have their own way of saying stuff, lol.
