I found this on Soundcloud

Amy radio Interview 'Late & Live with Gav' Nov 2003

This is a pre-recorded interview from Thursday 13th November 2003 at Capital Radio Studios in London; when then went out on air on Southern FM in Sussex on 'Late & Live with Gav' on Sunday 16th November 2003. This is from the master tape, so is just dry and continuous.

Like most people I was very upset to hear the sad news when Amy passed, especially as I had met her at this interview in 2003. It was one my favourite ones and she was a genuinely nice fun person. She was quietly promoting her debut album and just had a certain spark about her.

Loved this, thank you! She's just so charming and sweet.
There's a big picture too if you click: http://i1.sndcdn.com...nal.jpg?8c1a65e
The song isn't actually called 'a dead canary'... :D
I didn't know she liked Christina Aguilera.

Could someone please write down what she says? :(

Okay, I need help from the English-speakers, but I tried my best. If someone could tell me what animal Gav had and where the hell he kept it, please? I'm going crazy, because I keep hearing "woodler" :D

The first part:

Gav: Now Amy, you're taking the music scene by storm at the moment. I've been reading your reviews in the press from some very well-respected publications, such as The Times, The Guardian and The Independent, but the thing that strikes me is that no one - that's my phone, excuse me
Amy: No, it's mine. How embarrassing!
G: Oh, is it yours? We've got the same phone!
A: Lauren, let me call you back. No no, she’s on the other phone.
G: Have you got two phones?
A: Yeah yeah, you wanna talk to Lauren? I can’t speak, speak to my friend Gav.
G: Alright, let’s talk to Lauren. Hello Lauren! What are you ringing Amy for? She’s gone.
A: She’s a misery. That’s my cousin.
G: Right. Anyway, as I was saying, in the newspaper, people can’t make their mind up about who you are. What they are saying, alright, we’ve got Billie Holiday, Nelly Furtado, Bill Withers, Nancy Sinatra, Mary J Blidge, Stevie Wonder, Harry Connick, Miss Dynamite, Macy Gray, Lauryn Hill. What’s that all about?
A: I dunno. You know, what I think, a lot of people just associate me to jazzers around, merely because my sound is quite jazzy.
G: So, I mean, personally I think it’s quite bad that people are wanting to compare you with something. Does that get on your nerves?
A: No, because people comparing me to things means they know who I am.
G: I was listening to your album sampler on Sunday as I was doing my tax return.
A: Lovely.
G: Do you think it’s good music to do tax returns to? Cause I quite enjoyed it.
A: Yes, because if it made you enjoy the tax return…
G: THAT’S YOUR PHONE AGAIN!
A: I’ll tell her who you are and then she’ll talk to you.
G: Okay.
A: Lauren? I’m on the radio. I’ve got to go. I’m in the middle of the interview.
G: There is a big crisis in her life at the moment where she desperately needs to talk to Amy.
A: I’m really sorry. That’s so impolite.
G: Right. Popidol. What do you think of all of that at the moment?
A: It… has its place.
G: What do you mean by “has its place”? Where is this place?
A: This place is… in the front, you know, by people who are being handed music, you know what I mean, that’s the front of the queue.
G: But does it annoy you that someone like yourself who has been into music from a young age, that actually learns the craft and understands music and writes their own songs and then people from a reality TV show can achieve all that within 4 months.
A: Yeah, but that’s basic. They can’t achieve all that EVER, because they had to go on TV.
G: I like some of your songs. One of them I can’t say, but I’d like to replace the expletive word with another one that sounds like it: Futch me Pumps. Do you wanna tell me about that?
A: That song is about.. it’s not about girls I personally know, it’s just about that kind of girls you see when you go out with their Gucci handbags, like with their tiny handbags that has no money in it, just a phone. And, whatever, you know, fun little jab girls who I suppose think that their whole life would be validated if they get married to a rich man. And I did it with Salaam Remi, who did half of the rest of the album, and that song is the best example of what happens when two sarcastic people get in the same room.
G: Your other single are like a dead canary, obviously you went for a tragic moment in your life. Would you like to share that?
A: The song is not actually called “Dead Canary”.
G: No no, it’s not called “Dead Canary”, sorry, there’s a song about a dead canary.
A: I only had her for about a month, but you know what, canaries just die.
G: It’s tough, isn’t it?
A: Maybe I shouldn’t have sent her down that mine under my house.
G: We’ve moved on from that. There’s more electronic ways for that to find out the weather, without sending canaries down. I had a ….. once. For a day.
A: Oh, what happened?
G: He died. I kept him in a in a cupboard. He was called Steve. I took him into school for show-and-tell.
A: Awww, did he die?
G: He died in the overnight.
A: Before show-and-tell or…?
G: After.
A: Oh, that’s fine then!
G: Yeah, but there’s no show and tell, part 2. All I had to show was a dead , what’s that all about? The with a dead in it and a few leaves. Anyway, you’ve got a song where you fancy a teacher. Did you reaaally fancy a teacher? I never fancied any teacher at my school!
A: You didn’t have a sexy, guitar playing science teacher with long hair.
G: No, I had a … (mentor??). She was called Dr. … WHO SPOKE LIKE THIS! So your album Frank is out at the moment , very well, your single “Stronger than me” is also out and that’s what we’re gonna hear now. And we’ll have more from Amy, next.

Woodlouse. Kept him in a yoghurt pot on the top of my cupboard.
Mentor was actually munter (an unattractive woman) :D
Good job!

It's not a person that died, but after Amy told the story about Ava, the canary, the interviewer was talking about an animal (an insect apparently, check Elsie's post) that he found and showed to his friends and how it died after one day.

Thanks so much, Elsie! I have never heard "woodlouse" or "munter" before, so thanks for teaching me :)

What I totally forgot to say before is that I loooove Amy's story about her science teacher, cause I fancy men with long hair, too (most of the time, some just can't pull off the look) :D

I use a program called Replay Media Catcher. It's retail, but you might find a free addon for Firefox that lets you view your Firefox cache folder and save the media that you just watched in your browser. There are some addons out there, you'll just have to make sure they are updated to work the newer version of Firefox.
Amy, if you are up there listening, thank you for sharing the incredible soundtracks of your life ...
