How does one post a poll question ?!

Apologies for the tardy reply - I've been on a bit of a holiday!
To be able to post a poll question, the question must be asked at the start of a new thread; for example, you cannot post a random poll question in an existing thread. It has to be the first post of a new thread, and the poll option is in the options box under the large post text area.
