I remember reading about this and then Mark Ronson coming out and saying that these words had been put in his mouth and that Amy was not threatened by Adele's success.
Even if she was, she didn't need to be. Adele has a good voice, but her lyrics are muck and her voice hasn't half the character or expressiveness that Amy's had.

I just love the fact that there is an Amy and Adele thread. Nice read throughout my night.
What we had with Amy is a once in a lifetime deal. I don't think we'll see another artist with Amy's uniqueness, lyrics, musical composition, charisma, style, personality ever again.
The only reason why Adele and Amy were ever compared is because they are both british WOMEN that write and play instruments (Adele plays the guitar, right? Sorry, I'm not a tabloid tit). Many (mostly female) artists get compared and the media usually puts some sort of competition between them (debbie gibson vs tiffany, britney spears vs christina aguilera, mariah carey vs. whitney... etc...). It was inevitable that Amy would be compared to someone (although there isn't a comparison). Mark was mis-quoted. Good for him, happens all the time.
