In the official video, "blow" is censored. Do you know why?

"You love blow and I love puff" she says. I heard blow means cocain puff means marijuana in British English.

If they censored blow bcoz of that, why didn't they censor puff?

not like she flat out sayin it either, unlike clapton's "cocaine" which is played, uncensored, on so many radio stations.....an anti-drug song, be that as it may, but it's a lot of bullshit if u ask me, what is making a reference to recreational drug use, or drug abuse, going to do? influence people to speedball their way all through the night?

The only reason I can really think of is possible confusion with blowjob. haha

Drug references aren't usually censored as far as I'm aware whereas sex references (sometimes) are.

Indeed.

Censorship is lame, and often unnecessary. Imagine if they took out the word 'cocaine' out of this song.

I've always wondered too why "blow" was censored and not "puff". Censorship is most of the time unnecessary (hiding, not showing/expressing thing's not gonna make them disapear), but usually has a certain logic. Here, I can't even see one... Never thought of a possible confusion with "blowjob" though. Here's something else I wonder about: maybe the censors didn't know what "puff" means in that context ? From what I understand, the term's pretty common in British English/slang, but who knows ?

For the drug referencing, I'm assuming. Censorship is bullshit anyway.

I agree they probably thought she is reffering to blowjob, otherwise it makes no sense.

I always assumed it was because cocaine is a class A drug, and cannabis is a class B/C (not sure which at present, the UK gov changes drug policy like most of us change our pants).

The strange irony is - cocaine users are treated as victims here, but cannabis users are criminalised, when their habit does not impact on the lives of others, or cause poverty, misery and addiction in society.

Go figure...
