So many of Amy's songs have memorable lyrics, so it's hard to choose. The particular feature of Take the Box is how the lyrics hang on a very interesting and unusual melody. I'd doubt many singers today can get thorough it well. Even she had be careful around the line "you were so beautiful before today". There's a few notes with "before today" that are really tricky. Her music was so much above the "dross" of most of her contemporaries.

Some of my favorites are: Just Friends: It's never safe for us,not even in the evening cause I've been drinking,not in in the morning,when your shit works.All of Some Unholy War.Tears Dry On Their Own:I don't understand why do I stress the man,when there's so many bigger things at hand? We could have never had it all,We had to hit a wall,so this is inevitable withdrawal. Amazing lyrics. Inevitable withdrawal is my favorite line. Amy sings it so well.The way she breaks the word up to match the beat is great and hard to sing. When I am driving to work and listen to Amy, I hear a lyric and tell Amy out loud Damn girl that is too damn good even if I have heard the song hundreds of times. I don't care what people think because I love here lyrics . I know it's just my iPod.

Take the Box is great isn't it? but those lines express that emotion perfectly.

This is what I just love about Amy's songs. They are not just good in the lyrics. They are the full package. Lyrics, melody, vocals, instrumental, everything is so perfect!! Damn you Amy, why did you have to go? :'(
