Is it just me or does anyone think that he used the same trick (even the same sentences) to Amy? Makes me want to vomit.

Well he is the same person after all, in love again, so I suppose we can accuse him of lack of originality. For all we know Amy said about Reg "he's the male version of me".
Yuk, it's never nice to hear what ex-boyfriends are saying to their present girlfriends, I'm glad Amy isn't around to read this. I came across an email my ex-boyfriend wrote to his new girlfriend (it was complicated, we were kinda still together but in an "open" relationship) and it made me want to vomit.
