Disappointing response, no problem with someone having an opinion on the Film, but to make a comments about the maker of the Documentary.

You know, I'm sure Asif would gladly give Amy the oscar if she was still alive.

I'm sure Asif wishes he didn't have to make that film about her. He fell in love when he embarked on this project. This is also bitter-sweet for him.

I don't know if any of you were watching the entire show but at the end of Asif's thank you speech, they cut to Chris Rock and he made a comment about Amy but I didn't really catch it. Does anyone know what he said?

I am not changing my stance just because film won Oscar. It's a negative, spiteful and misleading portrayal of Amy. We will fix this.

I don't know if any of you were watching the entire show but at the end of Asif's thank you speech, they cut to Chris Rock and he made a comment about Amy but I didn't really catch it. Does anyone know what he said?

This is my fuzzy recollection: he said something like, "now when the people from (one of the other doc nominees) hear Amy Winehouse's music, they'll be like, aww...we almost won that Oscar".  I'm paraphrasing (with a capital 'P'), because I was still beaming after AMY won and wasn't paying too much attention.  For what it's worth, I do remember that Rock first pronounced her last name as "Wainhouse" then caught it. 

 

BTW, how great was Asif's speech?  Thanking mainly Amy, her fans.  Classy, gracious, humble, reverent (everything Mitch is not being right now).  We got lucky when Asif chose to make this movie.

He said something about the makers of the documentary about Ukraine hating Amy's music now because it will remind them that they didn't win an Oscar or something like that.

It's funny because Mitch says that Asif's intentions was to make it about himself, when thats what Mitch is doing. When I google Amy, the news articles are on how Mitch has slammed the film for it's negative portrayal.
