Dear friends,

We're going to introduce a new forum-engine for our board - Invision Power Board!

Right now the forum is working on vBulletin, it has a lot of cool features, but IPBoard will allow us to implement new ideas on how to make our board more comfortable for visitors.

Of course, the database will be converted without any damages (well, I hope, haha), so we won't lose any posts or accounts.

We're going to execute the migration on the weekend, there will be a short downtime (an hour or two), after which you'll see the new software in all its glory.

P.S. If there is a person who has any experience with IPBoard, I'll be glad to cooperate.

P.P.S. Off-topic: :teapot: - doesn't it mean "a pothead"? =)

Time to spam you with questions:

So, this doesn't mean anything other than the display of the site? Will the url still be the same? And what will happen during the hour down? Like, will it say "Please try again later" or something? Since the icons will be different (or not be there at all) what will they display as?

As about the maintenance time, of course, we'll put some message... For example, "the forum's software is being upgraded, so, please, pray for us!" or something like that. :-)

Yes, the site's look will be changed. We will use the same red & black colour palette (for now), but the interface will be more "modern", forum's icons will become more "relevant", but if we don't like them - we'll change them, it's not too difficult task.

Oh, you will see the new interface in a couple of days and I hope you'll love it, guys!

Some more:

Are there any examples of any kind of forums that use Invision Power Board? I see that they give an option that you can upload and download files. Will users be allowed to do that? Can users customize their profiles? What are the main difference(s) that you can say that you're personally excited to use or see how users and guest like?

Okay, guys, the forum is up and kicking! There are a couple of things that don't work for now:

• mentions - for now we can't use mentions (like @v_melnik), we have to buy a plugin to turn this feature back on;
• blogs - all blog posts has been archived, but we can't read and update them before we install another product - IP.Blog.

I'll try to fix it a bit later, when I have a bit more time. At least everything else seems to be okay.

Can you hide the gender option? It's annoying.

Also, I don't see the likes showing up.

Likes are working (I've just pushed "Like" on your post).

The gender field is not mandatory, so I hope it won't annoy anyone.

What's the message limit and how do I delete only my sent msgs since they are in conversation form now?

Oh, I see. Alas, old "likes" have been lost. So, let's like each other again! :-)

 

As about the message limit, it's 10 thousands of messages. If you want to delete sent messages, you need to select them manually.

I think it's back to 50 because I can't send anything out.

Apparently I'm "not telling" my gender but I don't want to say I'm not telling it either.

As about the gender, I'd like to leave it as it is. I can add an option "I don't want to declare that I don't want to declare my gender". :-)

 

The issue with private messages has been fixed. Please, check if it' okay.
