If you look at the album sleeve for BTB she credits a few different guys. Blake, George (Me & Mr Jones guy) and one or two others so I'm guessing he's one of the others. It's cool that she'd started that so early though, it always seems in interviews like there were 2 years where she didn't write anything but she wrote Addicted, Just Friends and Me & Mr Jones all before 06. She also said Some Unholy War was written pretty early on from what I can remember also.

Thanks for the info. I don't actually own B2B believe it or not so didn't realize this was about several guys. I always remembered from interviews/concerts her saying that Some Unholy War was the first song she wrote for the album, which is why I was surprised to read that the idea about Just Friends had already sprouted by 2004.

Well, Some Unholy War might have been the first song she wrote with a new album in mind and then later on added in a couple of songs she had written earlier.

Yes. I knew Me and Mr Jones was about an earlier boy, but I always assumed, because of the content of the song, that Just Friends was exclusively about Blake and them sneaking around at first when he was still seeing his other girl. This just goes back to what Mitch says in his book, that her songs are often a hotchpotch of anecdotes strung together.

Just Friends may have been written in 2004 when she was first getting together with Blake. She was officially with him in 2005, but who knows how long they were sneaking around together for before that? If you were to take the content of the songs at face value, it would seem that they were secretly together for a while, then he broke up with his girlfriend and they were openly together, then they broke up and he went back to the previous girlfriend. That was my understanding of the situation, but that's just purely going on what I have taken from her music and what was said on here about her and Blake being together for the early part of 2005 before breaking up. Could be possible that she wrote Just Friends when she first met Blake and they were still getting together in secret.

Wow!  Some Unholy War and Just Friends were written in 2004?  That is cool.  Did Amy ever talk about them or any plans (or direction she was heading) for her Back to Black album (I'm sure she probably didn't have that name in mind then)?

A little off topic but before the release of Back to Black in 2006, what all did she say about it?  You know, things such as what it was going to be named (before she came up with Back to Black), the direction/sound she was hoping to achieve, early track-listing.  Was there ever an alternate album cover and whether or not she had a completely different image in mind?

By the way, thanks for the pics and keep 'em coming :).

Message for mods/admin:  If it isn't too much trouble would you change the title of my thread from the title it has now to this, Frank to Back to Black Transition Period.  I would be so grateful and I believe it fits what this thread has become to be honest (and I love that too).  Thanks!

Wow!  Some Unholy War and Just Friends were written in 2004?  That is cool.

I think she met Blake in early 2005 (january?), based on what I've read around here and in Mitch's book. Some Unholy War was the first song she wrote for the album, while she was on holiday in Spain with her dad (spring/summer 2005).

At the time of that interview in august 2004 where she mentions a song 'Maybe in the Morning', I don't think she had even met Blake, which would mean she already had the idea of talking about complicated 'dangerous' relationships, and when she met Blake, with their on-and-off relationship and him seeing another girl, she just built from her original idea and added to it.

She got her Blake tattoo only one month after meeting him, and in august 2004 she definitely didn't have it yet. So we're meant to believe Amy was a recidivist, repeating similar patterns with different boys. At least that's the way I understand it. It's interesting because you always read about her scribbling away ideas for lyrics in her notebook, so she obviously had a lot to draw from when she was writing Back 2 Black.

"Winehouse's hairstyle, Martello confides, is made up almost entirely of extensions, though she's been known to add extra wadding a polystyrene-like padding for dramatic effect." http://www.amywineho...on-the-beehive/

It's real hair, just somebody else's lol ;)

Yeah, I remember that once she said on her beehive/hair: "yes, it's all mine coz I bought it".

I think HelloSailor is probably right and she's just combined bits about different experiences and people into one song to make a complete narrative. Mitch said in his book that the "your neighbours were screaming" line from Take the Box was lifted from something when she was visiting her nan, not when she was seeing the bloke the song was about.

I agree about her repeating the same behaviour with different people. I get the impression she was probably aware that she was doing it also. In that interview Uno posted recently she mentioned she cheated on Alex with Blake in late 2006, and when she eventually dumped Alex it was to go back to Blake. She also cheated on the I'm No Good guy (possibly Alex again, maybe with Blake). Sad that she couldn't sort herself out.

I got the impression You Know I'm No Good was Blake, but very possible that it was someone else. I thought she wrote that just after breaking up with Blake too?
