http://www.amazon.co...janis winehouse

Arguably the most gifted artist of her generation, Amy Winehouse died tragically young, aged just 27. With a worldwide fanbase and millions of record sales to her name, she should have had the world at her feet. Instead, in the years prior to her passing, she battled with addictions and was often the subject of lurid tabloid headlines. But who was the real Amy?

Amy's mother, Janis, knew her in a way that no-one else did. In this warm, poignant and, at times, heartbreaking memoir, she reveals the full story of the daughter she loved. As the world watched the rise of a superstar, then the freefall of an addict to her untimely death, Janis simply saw her Amy, the girl she'd given birth to in 1983; the girl she'd raised and stood by despite her unruly behaviour; the girl whose body she was forced to identify two days after her death - and the girl she's grieved for every day since.

Packed with exclusive material that has never been seen before, such as extracts from Amy's teenage diaries, photos and notes, Loving Amy offers a new and intimate perspective on the life and death of the phenomenon that is Amy Winehouse.

Definitely will be getting this. I hope this book focuses more on positive stories of Amy. I loved Amy, My Daughter, but it was just so depressing at times. I really hope Janis shares untold positive stories that us fans can sit back and smile and laugh at. I think this'll be worth the read.

Promo for the book is starting to come out, this first one is gut-wrenchingly sad. I always had a feeling that things weren't as sugar coated for that last month after Belgrade as they wanted us to believe ...

Man, that is sad. I hate to be the person to sound like I'm blaming anyone but surely if her bodyguard is having to wash, dress, do her hair and carry her then surely he should have tried to get some kind of intervention. I know this was probably usual for her towards the end but jesus.

On a more trivial note, that picture they included which they said was 2 weeks before her death - wasn't that from like 2008?

^yeah, whoever dated that pic and labeled the others is an idiot or intentionally sensationalist

honestly I don't know what the point is of revealing that she reeked of alcohol. I think some details, especially leading up to death, should remain private... it just isn't very decent to her memory. and i'm not saying things should be sugarcoated but damn...

This is from 2011, is she talking about a different day? http://www.dailymail...I-love-you.html

TBR I grew up around alcoholism.  God could come to Amy's room and not even he could stop her drinking.  It's certainly not a paid employees job to get an intervention.  Dozens of people had tried.  You hang on with a hope and a prayer but I was always preparing for my mothers death.  It's unstoppable.  All that one can do is to take care of themselves.  It is one of the most painful things in life to watch day by day as an alcoholic is killing themselves.  Look how hard it was on us, her best fans.

Janis is a very strong woman to tell her story as she saw it, to tell her and Amy's truth. I commend her on her courage, it would have been very hard to write such a book. I have noticed 'the stench' on people I know with alcoholism too. I pray for Amy's family be healed.
