The idea of a penny rolling around gives the idea of it being aimless and out of control to an extent, which is a metaphor for how she is feeling ‘inside’ with regard to her life and relationships. The ‘penny rolling up the walls’ signifies her unstable emotional state. If the penny rolls up, it has to roll back down. Which may also signify the up and down highs and lows that you have when you take drugs. “Life is like a pipe” refers to being stuck in a round object and looking down the end. It’s dark and you can perhaps see a small amount of light at the end of the tunnel, however you can’t escape. This is a metaphor for the misery she feels. Also with a pipe you can smoke pot and different drugs.

If anything, feeling like a tiny penny rolling up the walls reveals a feeling of an utter lack of control—being a tiny penny reflects her feeling of near insignificance in terms of her power when it comes to this man who tosses her to the side at his whim.

I read in an interview that "black" was that she was bored or something. If someone finds the interview it would make more sense.

I read in an interview that "black" was that she was bored or something. If someone finds the interview it would make more sense.

I've always related black to depression, although a symptom of mood disorders is getting bored easily or a lack of interest in things. On songfacts.com they refer to a couple articles:

Amy Winehouse explained to the Sun newspaper October 27, 2006 before they'd re-established their relationship: "'Back to Black' is when you've finished a relationship and you go back to what's comfortable for you. My ex went back to his girlfriend and I went back to drinking and dark times."

In a 2007 edition of Rolling Stone magazine, Winehouse admitted this song and the whole album was about this difficult time in their relationship: "All the songs are about the state of my relationship at the time with Blake. I had never felt the way I feel about him about anyone in my life. It was very cathartic, because I felt terrible about the way we treated each other. I thought we'd never see each other again. He laughs about it now. He's like, 'What do you mean, you thought we'd never see each other again? We love each other. We've always loved each other.' But I don't think it's funny. I wanted to die."
