Hello everyone!

Tina Turner is one of my favourite artists.

I have always wondered if Amy Winehouse was influenced by Tina Turner.

  • According to http://inflooenz.com, Amy was influenced by Ike & Tina Turner.
  • There is an album called "Roots of Amy Winehouse" which contains the Ike & Tina song "A Fool In Love" (1960). http://www.amazon.co...duct/B001GL0S8G
  • Their voices have similarities. Of course, Amy was no shouter or (rock) belter.

In 2007, Tina recorded a jazz song.

Honestly, I don't think so or not to any massive degree. Whenever she was asked over the years, Amy would always list a spiel of people like Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, Mahalia Jackson, Carleen Anderson, Erykah Badu, Aretha Franklin, Minnie Ripperton, etc in terms of her vocal influences. I'm sure she listened to her at some point but she never acknowledged Tina as an influence or someone she was a massive fan of.

Okay. It would be interesting to know if the songs on the album have been chosen by Amy herself.

Eventually, it is not surprising that one can find similarities between both artists. Tina started singing in the era of the mentioned artists. Mahalia Jackson was her vocal idol when she was a little kid.

I'm not sure if she made that collection but I do know that she made a "Chill-Out Tape". Here's a playlist with all of the songs she put on it https://www.youtube....7530QHlqhGhs-QX

also, here's a photo of the actual list she made.
