This is the same snippet that was in the Amy documentary, but it is nice to be able to listen to it again. Not long till the full demo is released!

On the DVD, Asif Kapadia says in the filmmakers commentary that the original demo is 20 minutes long! And it's just her figuring out the song. Would love to hear it in full. I wonder when it was recorded, I'm thinking late 2005 for Back to Black.

I don't understand. According to 'Lioness:Hidden Treasures', Like Smoke was recorded in 2008. So, Amy first had recorded this song in 2005? And then use this demo for record the song three years later? Her voice had changed a lot, though.

I don't know, in the documentary they make it seem like she recorded it with Salaam in 2005 in Miami. The 20 minute demo Asif Kapadia talked about is her working out the song, so I'm not sure. Maybe she re-recorded parts of it in 2008? You're right, her voice is very different on the Nas version.
