I'm passionately interested in music history so I listen to a lot of music, but FRANK is my all-time favorite album so naturally I find every note and line on this album perfect. Apart from the lines already mentioned and the obvious ones ("the angle right") these are also really interesting:
[scat singing]
Seriously, Amy’s wordless singing conveys so much emotion. It’s like Monk on the keys. Just her pure voice is the most wondrous powerful creation ever in existence I desperately wish there was more...
Stronger Than Me
"I'm not gonna meet your mother anytime
I just wanna grip your body over mine"
This is definitely/unfortunately the theme song in my "imaginary-girlfriend-relationship" with Amy. But what man wouldn't want Amy, the most beautiful woman in the world, to say to him "I just wanna grip your body over mine". WOW...yes please.
You Sent Me Flying
"And although he's nothing in the scheme of my years
It just serves to bludgeon my futile tears"
Yeah I can feel this...
"And the melodramas of my day deliver blows"
Beautiful phonetically.
Cherry
"Maybe we could talk 'bout things
If you was made of wood and strings
While I love her every sound
I dunno how to tune you down"
Music really is the most wonderful magical thing in life. Music is my person. Never disappointing. Healing. This whole song conveys this perfectly. The neverending curiosity to discover something interesting you've never heard before. Seriously, Amy’s music is one of the reasons to live.
Know You Now
"Yes I'm perceptive so when I'm done with you
You'll wish your head back the way it were"
Love this. Brutal.
What Is It About Men
"And animal aggression is my downfall
I don't care about what you got, I want it all"
Scary...Makes you think.
Help Yourself
"But we all become what we once hated"
Powerful and sad, but often true.
"And I, I'm just a child and you're full grown
And it was like nothing that I've ever known
You are like nothing that I ever knew"
Aww...Beautiful. I adore all lines in this song. I adore this song. Period.
Amy Amy Amy
"Underwear peeks out the top
I'll let you know when you should stop
From the picture my mind drew
I know I'd look good on you"
Dope. A contender for the sexiest song ever! This whole song is just ooze sexiness=Minnie Riperton vibes.
Brother
"Brother
It's so much that I could never say to your face
But by now
You should know the world and all its ways
So find your place"
[...]
"But how can I expect you to understand
When you live life like it's so run-through"
[...]
"Cause we'll never be the way we were"
Reaching out through poetry/music. A very moving and rare insight into a relationship in which we do not know much about.
All in all, I’ve learned so much about life and relationships through this album. Through Amy, a teenager wise way beyond her years, and I’m still continuing doing so. So many shivers down the spine/goosebumps and misty-eyed moments.
Thank you Amy (and Salaam)
