If my username wasn't a dead giveaway already, one of my favorite Amy songs is Detachment, but there's sort of an air of mystery around it, at least for me. I haven't been able to find out much about the song at all (when it was leaked, why Universal provided Asif Kapadia with it when they said that they wouldn't let any of the songs out of the vault, and whether or not they gave him only that clip or if they gave him the full song but he edited it a lot, and whether or not the song is finished, )as I've seen some people say things along the lines of 'It's the only part of the song that exists now' or 'most of the audio was lost' or 'she only sang that part'.)) One thing I can say nearly certain is that it's about her cheating on Blake to seal the deal, and to completely destroy any hope they had of getting back together after their final split. Just my theory, the vocal stylings don't quite match up though.

Song was recorded in 2001 (as well as My Own Way), long before the affair with Blake. I think that the official release of song is matter of annoying copyright, maybe they keep it until ''better times''

Really? Wow. That's a surprise to me. I guess it just fits the Blake thing really well. I think Detachment was among the songs that were supposed to be in Lioness: Hidden Treasures but the people who were deciding on whether or not to release everything (family/friends) said no for whatever reason. Also, 'the best times'? Do you mean like, for when Universal is in a slump and they release Amy stuff to make quick money? I kinda hope that happens.

Some of the demos from that time (2001-ish) were primarily made to help Amy land a deal with a potential recording company. I've never seen it documented anywhere that 'Detachment' was one of those songs, but it could be a good possibility that it was recorded for that reason

Oh my god has it hit anyone that like, in not even three years, this song will have been recorded twenty years ago, and in a little over four years, Frank will be twenty years old. Jesus time flies. Also nice video, but I regret that they didn't say anything about it's full version at all. And it was a demo so maybe it was destroyed?

It's a terrific song, but what makes Detachment really magical is Amy's vocals, isn't it? I mean, I still find it inconceivable to understand how someone can sing like her. I'm just as surprised every time I listen to her music, like hearing it for the first time. Remarkable!
It's not fair teasing a 90sec edit in the Doc and not releasing it in full on the OST CD.

It really is. The horns in the background too. Loud, very deep and rich. Truly amazing. I do hope, though, that it wasn't among those demo tapes destroyed by Universal. I doubt they were destroyed at all, in all honesty, but if they did, I mean.. it was probably one of them. They likely got their hands on the tape long before the demos were destroyed, when they started making the film itself, returned it to Universal, where it would be destroyed. If so, I sure hope Asif, James, or the editor were smart enough to take the full song from the tape and keep it, so that it at least still exists. If not, then it's out there somewhere. The people who licensed it probably still have it though. Another possible thing is that they do. I mean, 'My Own Way' was listed as an unreleased demo back in 2008 on a database. That means that Universal had it back then, and probably had it all the way until they destroyed. It's entirely possible that there are still copies of some demos out there that just haven't surfaced.

I'm sure there are multiple copies safely stored by the producers of those allegedly destroyed songs. I just can't believe that those involved would let those recordings disappear forever.
This is the version of Detachment I mixed from the bluray: https://www.dropbox....eler].flac?dl=0
