Hi again! I just wanted to express some thoughts about her, as I guess this forum is for discussing her in general. I just wanted to ask everyone's thoughts on Mitch, and the rest of her family. I feel like they're treated very unfairly most of the time. People that talk about how they should've done more really don't know, and I feel like he just gets a bad rep for no apparent reason other than he was the one who was probably closest to her, and people really just want someone to blame for what happened to Amy. I don't know, maybe just me, but I wanted to see what everyone else thought.

Hi again to you too. I agree, to a certain extent. He gets an unfair reputation, coming from someone who's previously thought of him as the reason she died in the first place. I feel bad for alot of her friends too, as people who know little to nothing about their relationship have so much to say about how they should've done more. It's just mean, and I don't like that this forum has some of that on here. I know that Amy's friends and family come on here sometimes, and it'd kill me to think that they're under the impression that this is what every fan thinks. I mean, he raised her, and did his best to support their family, even after he and Janis split up. Of course he's made mistakes, as has every parent, and while i get that these mistakes are pretty bad in comparison to others, I don't think he needs to be blamed like this forever, nor does anyone.

I completely agree with everything you said. I would imagine most of the people close to her (like at least family and close friends) did what they could and it had to have been very hard on them. People who really didn't have an insight into her personal life trying to place blame 7 years out feels a little misguided.

It feels like everyone I've asked/talked to about it hates Mitch's guts, and it's very sad. I mean, he lost his daughter, firstly, and he knew her better than any of us ever could. I get that he did make questionable choices like saying she was fine, and didn't need rehab, and following her to St. Lucia with a camera crew, brushing off the bulimia, but he's, firstly, human, and still took care of her most of her life, and secondly, I really don't think you (not you specifically, just people in general) helped any by giving her the publicity she didn't want.

I agree with you completely. I DO feel bad for Mitch and for Janis, and her brother Alex. I don't think the blame is on them. I think they could've done some things a little different yes, but none of us know what really happened as we weren't there. We're not in their family. Mitch gets a bad rep all the time and it's not entirely fair. Everyone has a different family dynamic and only if you are in the family you understand. I've met both Mitch and Janis and have personally seen the sadness and tears swell up in their eyes when I spoke to them about Amy. I felt the sadness there. There's a reason Amy ADORED her dad. He had to be somewhat good, yeah? She loved that guy

Another important thing I want to stress. The scene in St. Lucia where fans came up to Amy and asked for a photo. She didn't really want to and he kind of made her and said Amy don't be rude. Everyone sees it as Mitch exploiting Amy. I see it differently. He was telling her to be nice to her fans..as they were being nice to her. If I was in that situation my mom would have said the same thing. Be nice, and be happy you have fans. Had it been the other way and her and Mitch were both rude to the fans, they would go and tell the press "Amy was a bitch.." etc etc . Now a days people get upset about everything. If a celebrity says no to photos, an autograph they are 'bitchy' and rude. So to me he was telling her to appreciate her fans and come off nice.

Once again it comes down to this:
Amy was an addict and an alcoholic. Plain and simple. That in no way makes her any less of an amazing women and it's why I admire her even more.
People always say to those closest to her " Why didn't you do xyz?"
But what alot of non addicts don't understand is that there is NOTHING anyone can do for an addict if the person doesn't want help.
It does get complicated, of course, as do any human relationships. As an addict myself, who went through alot of the same struggles as Amy (minus the fame of course), I can understand. It is not hard to see that for a lot of her life, she was in denial about her problems. Yet at the same time she was brutally honest about herself. It is obvious that near the end of her life, she was discovering and coming to terms with her problems. But that's how life works, innit? She was just one of the unlucky ones who relapsed and didnt have another chance to continue her battle.
Her family, friends, and even Blake, I'm sure they did everything they knew how to do to help her. yet, everyone has their own problems that get in the way of giving the help someone needs. Take Blake for example, he was in the throws of addiction, so how much help could he really be when he himself was consumed and out of his mind on substances. I have had many experiences with partners and friends whom I would use with, and I will tell you that it inhibits you from really being there for the one you love. I am so lucky that I still have my best friend after we relapsed and used together for a time, because I lost her for over a year because it just wasn't right for us to be together, we had to heal on our own.
This has turned into a rant, but it's something I'm very passionate about because I can understand soooooo very well what Amy and her family and friends were probably going through. I've been on all sides. It is the most heart wrenching, hopeless, and frustrating situation to be in, and one that is in the deepest of gray areas. there is never really a perfectly correct way to deal with situations such as these.
All you can do is try, fail, and try some more. And most importantly, just be there for the person when they are ready and let them know that you love them. Which I fully believe everyone did.

Not all of us make it through the battle alive, and that is the saddest part. Unfortunately, Amy is one of the most important to not make it.

I've never held any hatred for anyone that alot of fans dislike, because I know there is always so much more to the story than what we know. And Amy said herself, she believed in sorting things out yourself, and I think that her stubbornness with that prevented her from reaching out early on. But I saw the improvements in her last year's, and I have the feeling that she started allowing people to help.

The disease of addiction is no one's fault, especially not the addicts.

And yes, I will be the first to admit that Mitch made mistakes, but I also realize that parents especially, are sometimes in just as much denial as the child. I know mine were. Nothing prepares you for a struggle like that. I only have the deepest sympathy to ward her family and loved ones. Because at the end of the day, we are all only human, and we are all selfish and stubborn and alot of the time, we don't want to admit when something is really bad.

Okay, sorry for the novel, I know I probably left some key points out, but whatever.
Lol rant over. ❤️
