I have always been curious about Amy's political views. Was she a Conservative or Labour? I don't think she ever shared this information publicly, but I might be wrong.

If Amy's political views are not known, then we can arrive at a possible conclusion by assuming two things:

1. British Jews are, historically, conservative; therefore—statistically speaking—Amy was more likely to have been Conservative.

2. I remember that Salaam Remi said that 'Some Unholy War' was inspired by Amy's discontent about the war in Afghanistan. Tony Blair, then-Leader of the Labour Party, was the Prime Minister during the war in Afghanistan and the invasion of Iraq, so it could be assumed that part of Amy's discontent was Tony Blair's handling of both invasions and subsequent wars.

I strongly doubt Amy was apolitical as it wouldn't have fit with her strong personality and her strong opinions. There is a difference between not being interested in politics and being apolitical, Amy could maybe not have been interested in politics but still be opinionated when an issue arose as she apparently did with the war on terror.

I know Janis Winehouse answers a lot of questions on Twitter, so she might be able to answer our question. I know asking about someone's political beliefs are considered rude sometimes especially for older generations, but who knows if she might feel like sharing that information.

If you guys had to assume Amy's political views, would you say she was Conservative or Labour-leaning?

I honestly think she was too young and careless to care about politics. I think she was not interested in it at all. I mean, she wrote B2B when she was 21/22. I had no idea about politics when I was that age! Lol!

I think she was a labour voter despite not stating this publically. she publicly supported a climate change awareness campaign which could have been seen as a left leaning charity to support. her friends and most of her family post in favour of left leaning politics on social media. she certainly wasnt financially motivated which is another reason i think she would be more likely a labour voter. she loved carribean culture in london etc which is pro immigration etc.

i have no doubt she would have been a labour supporter i think she just avoided these public discussions as she wanted people to know her for her music and her music only. she was very charitable but more privately than other celebs.

I agree with both of the responses above.  I don't think she was strongly affiliated with any political party but I do think she would have leant to the left, certainly not Conservative, for all of the reasons grestki101 gives above.  She seemed to have a social conscience and wasn't financially motivated, giving much of her money to friends and charities.
