I hope it gets scrapped honestly. I'm a bit sick of the recent biopic trend and everything I've seen come out about her since the Asif Kapadia documentary has felt kind of try-hard. Also I don't get a good vibe from the director in general

I didn't like the Kapadia one- it was too intrusive, especially when they showed those horrible private pictures. I don't look forward to this.

I really am not interested in seeing someone playing Amy, I want the real thing. Yes, Kapadia shouldn’t have access to her laptop, but in general terms, excluding the voice emails that played on the movie as well, it was an in-depth apocalyptic film, that gave us real glimpses onto the real Amy. I wish there was a second documentary about her, just a little more sensitive on her private data.
If you ask my opinion, it’s tragic. They have tons of Amy footage and never release anything. Do they care about the fans? I wish at least the new biopic to have some unrelease Amy music, but I am really tired of this stinginess at sharing stuff they have.
Some fans do really better job for the fanbase than the copyrights owners. I’m fed up with it, really, and I’m not a negative person to speak that way easily.
All that being said, I wish the community had the power to speak to Kapadia in order to release a DVD with unreleased stuff, than have this biopic.
I have to say, Kapadia did justice for Amy. He didn’t have intention to break into her private life, he just wanted to show the real Amy. And he achieved it. We saw the real agony of everyone around the addictions, the bad choices, we saw the real tragedy of her self destruction. And we saw how lightful she was, we heard MUSIC, we saw her growing up in front of us on the big screen. It was a real gift for us fans.”A star is born all over again” You remember the title? That’s the case. Each one took lessons from the film. Us, fans, we loved more our Amy. For addiction centers, the film gave a really good example of what NOT to do with your life. For future generations, it was a historic evidence of what Amy REALLY was.

Amy doesn't need any biopic, it's just another bussiness project having nothing to do with her and her legacy. I'm not interested at all and the choice of director...the weirdest one. Lots of great unreleased music and gigs showing how genuinely amazing woman, singer and songwriter, that's what we wait, Amy deserves way more than another ''biopic'', hologram or more cringe and crazy ideas. But no one asks what Amy community really want.

I don't know who the director is and I don't want to judge this choice. But you are sooo right, they really are not going with the flow of the community. One thing I believe though is that they read the forum comments. Otherwise there wouldn;t be any shift in the hologram project (which I would see, BUT it's another topic AND I would pay waaay more money to see a real vintage Amy concert on the big screen)
Fellow fans, just write your opinions. They may hear us, that's what I hope at least.

I feel that the biopic being touted as "approved by the family" may be yet another chance to clear the air for them. I don't really agree with that, but I won't sit here and say I imagine how they feel at all. Also, I wish they would just leave her the hell alone. The poor woman couldn't get peace in life, she can't even get peace in death. I agree with weloveyouamy on the sentiment around Kapadia's documentary, as much as it can be seen as intrusive, it was about AMY, no one else. Other than that, I wish they would just leave her be. I think based on all the quotes and actions we saw from her in life, she would HATE all of this (biopics, scrapped holograms, even the auctions). I could be 10000% wrong, and at the end of the day all I can hope is that the estate/family has kinder intentions than what my pessimistic side tells me.

If they just put out the iconic live performances (union chapel, etc) that really showcase her wonderful talent, I think that's all that is needed at this point for her legacy, and more in line with what I speculate she may have wanted.

I understand a biopic may be impactful in some regards, such as more visibility in Amy’s life, but in all honesty Amy was a real one, and I’d love to keep seeing documentaries that support and show her artistry and what made her incredible, not biopics that are only made for the popularity - such as the ones in recent times.

A video I’ve seen by a great YouTuber named Mina Le explains about the recent biopics we’ve been getting: https://youtu.be/ZbYInUMpkqs. I recommend watching this to everyone interested in why biopics are popular more than ever now.

After all, a biopic is still a film, and it will have influences from everything. There will be always a bias. In regard to Amy documentaries, I’d love to see more about the production of her music, and more about her artistry, which has impacted me a lot.

And it doesn’t even have to be documentaries. Such as others have mentioned, I’d love to listen to live shows and other footages, only with the approval of her family of course.

Nope. They need to let her rest in peace.

I actually did like Amy—prior to that I barely knew a thing about her or her music. I think it did a good job of showing her personality and shifting the public's narrative on her. It was very timely in that way as well, being released right when mental health started being prioritized and discussed more.

Despite that, I did feel like Kapadia just took one angle suggesting that all her problems started with her parents' divorce and ran with it, so I actually do see why her family ended up not liking it. I haven't seen Senna, but I've heard that criticism about his projects from other people as well.

I didn't keep up with Amy news for a few years, so didn't know what happened with the hologram tour. They always feel a little icky to me, so glad that ended up not happening.

I follow the film community pretty closely and NO ONE is excited about this except for the 5 delusional Lady Gaga fans who heard her accent in House of Gucci and still came to the conclusion she would be a great choice to play a North London girl 18 years her junior.

Like you said, seeing more music and concert oriented content would be an amazing alternative though.

Not interested unless it turns out to be something experimental like the biopics Peter Greenaway has done instead of the usual 3-act structure. Could be a great opportunity to release some unreleased music for the soundtrack though. A complete version of Detachment perhaps... (please please)

That title though... the number of people "Barbie star" could refer to when half of Hollywood has been cast in that movie
