If you've heard this cover already or it's the first time, thought you all might enjoy this! It's been quietly floating around YouTube for a little while, but not too well known.

 

Not a lot of information regarding where this was recorded, how old she was, etc. The information I seemed to find was on our forum in 2020! The user Fierce said the description of the video that was taken down estimated her to be about 17 or 18 years old. And our very own MingusMonk&Amy said "The original uploader wrote this (now deleted) in HerSweetSound's repost 'it's a studio recording but done in one take' Another repost comment 'this was recorded at producer Jack Freegards home at 2AM in his studio so as to not wake his parents.'"

 

Love her phrasings and vocal runs here. What a gem. Enjoy everyone!

Found a story that parallels the Jack Freegards' studio thing, but doesn't mention Lately or anything else by name:

 

"We worked till about three in the morning and I remember worrying because Jack's parents were asleep in the next room and when she starts singing you know about it, but we didn't wake anyone and had a good tune at the end of it."

 Yes, it's that good! It would be lovely for it to be released! I've been listening it to it nonstop lately. Oh well, we'll see what her estate and Universal do in the future...

This was something Amy used to sing quite often at that time. Juliette would sing ‘hello’ if I’m not mistaken.
Not exclusively but there were particular songs they’d both cover that stood out. For Jack and I, lately, we loved.

Amy wanted to put adlibs on a song I wrote called the real me, it was tough at the time because everyone was relatively busy. Eventually we managed to get Amy to Jacks room to record the adlibs. We wanted to record another song and Amy had half a page of lyrics, this was Get Over It.
She sang me the lyrics she had and within maybe 45 minutes, we had the song. We asked if she’d sing the lately cover whilst we were all there and so 3 vocals were recorded that night.

The PC with all these recordings on was mistakenly wiped when Jack upgraded his computer. That is why Get Over It was never adjusted. The only official release of Get Over It is on a promo vinyl, I’ve bought most copies of this vinyl myself.

The parts of this cover was lost and deleted as well. There may be a few very scratched CDs with it on but they’re lost.
The lately vocal was literally just for Jack and I because we loved it. That’s why it was never leaked because it was just something kept amongst a few people, it obviously was leaked at some point. Not sure how.

I just figured I’d clarify the story for you all and that’s it

 

 

So the recording has nothing really to do with her estate or universal, they didn’t even know it existed until the leak I assume.

 

Thank you for sharing! I saw in a past thread some users wondering why this song was leaked with some reservation. It makes sense that this recording (and those that were deleted, I can assume) were special moments not meant for global consumption. Juliette has a wonderful voice too, and it's so interesting to hear the music she and Amy were drawn to sing at the time. Getting back to your initial post, I was wondering what songs could have been recorded that night—something I resigned to never really know, as I see it as a private moment between artists and, again, not really meant for global consumption. So there's a bit of dissonance in me as a fan, typing on a forum dedicated to Amy's talent while reading moments not meant for fame.

Not sure if my response to you makes sense, but I say again: thank you for sharing this.

 

Also, I apologize for falsely saying this song is under the control of Universal or her estate. I assumed any of her material out there is somehow connected to either one of those entities, but I'm also not an expert on copyright, music, or Amy to be quite honest. I appreciate the clarification.

i love the vocals! i knew of the recording, but kept getting it mixed up with "long Day" lol.
