I thought about getting everyone's thoughts on this..... Title seems like a movie, so let make it like one.

for example: if theres a video to the comment you'd like to write, link it!

(came up with this idea with a few peers)

i want to see YOU guys's opinion on this relationship, NOT the press(damned bastards).

I couldn't find alot of NEW stuff on this topic, of course their relationship was long ago.

First, let's start off with this topic : What factors contributed to the tumultuous relationship between Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil and how did it affect their personal lives and careers?

 

another title for this post was going to be "Diving Deeper into Amy and Blake's Twisted Tapestry: Compelling Questions Beyond the Headlines"

Personally I think there are 2 main factors. 

 

1. This is one is obvious, but Amy's relationship with her father and her parents' divorce. I think the divorce skewed her view of relationships and men in general. Also, her dad is... a character and they had a very close relationship. I wouldn't be surprised if Mitch was a very emotional and loud character and Amy wanted someone more aloof and "mysterious."

 

2. I think Amy also idolized the 50s and 60s romance, which yes, I do think it can be cute and romantic to a certain extent, but the mindset back then was very much "stand by your man no matter what." Back then it was taught that having a boyfriend or a husband determined your worth as a woman, and I think that might have influenced Amy as well. Her parents also grew up during this time, so I believe they had some of those beliefs as well. 

 

I have some more things to say but I want to make sure my point is communicated well before I post lol.

For 2, I mean that Amy knew her and Blake's relationship wasn't healthy from the start but just having a boyfriend/husband made her feel important and special even if the relationship was damaging!!

Blake was a drug addict, and he wasn't going to stop using just because Amy got famous. And Amy chose the drugs to get closer to Blake and attempt to make him stay with her because she knew the depth of his addiction. Blake was a young, selfish addict and his main goal in life was probably to get high... like he never tried to get a real job or go back to school. It seemed like he just leeched off of Amy for a while. I don't wanna doubt he loved her but when a drug addict notices that someone who was madly in love with them starts getting famous quick.... they're gonna go back to that relationship.

Blake didn't introduce Amy to hard drugs. In Tyler James' book, he mentions that heroin and hard drugs in general were around in the Camden scene when Amy was starting her music career. Cocaine was everywhere as well as pills like Valium. People around Amy were using, but she always had the stance against hard drugs.

 

In Janis' book, she wrote about a time Amy told her that she (Amy) had tried heroin, but Amy wasn't into it (obviously, at that time). I can't recall exactly, but I think this was pre-Blake.

 

So the truth is that Blake didn't introduce them to Amy nor did he force her to take it. I think after Cynthia died and everything that happened with Blake the first time they split, depression, her difficult childhood and general mental health issues/insecurities, and possibly the pressures of her career, pushed her into wanting to take hard drugs. I know the idea is that Amy took them because she wanted to be on "Blake's level" and that could be true, but I think the real precipice was her wanting to self-medicate.
