Holy shit, Alex has to be careful not to get after Mitch physically (or personally either)
He definitely took after Mitch in terms of looks! Honestly, I was kind of surprised that he went to the premiere, since he seems to stay away from stuff like that.

Yes, and I don't understand that either, it seems that no one dares to stand against Mitch. If I don't agree with something, I could at least stay away from the premiere. And I don't understand how Janis was there either. In her book Loving Amy she struck me as a mother who is very reflective and intelligent. But maybe it's not so easy for her to be alone after her husband's death... I wouldn't accuse her of any bad intentions.

Janis does seem to be supportive of what Mitch does; after all, she was in the Reclaiming Amy doc with him in his attempt to “clear his name”. But yeah, who knows her true intentions; I don’t want to judge her either. But it’s gotta be weird for the Winehouse family seeing their daughter/sister up on the big screen in that damn movie.

I think the film was pretty good. Aside from some inaccuracies and the singing.
Honestly, I've got to agree. The singing is never going to compare for obvious reasons, but kudos to Marisa for trying. Some of the inaccuracies were really glaring as a hardcore fan, but overall I think the movie was... better than I expected?

Honest? Of course everyone can have their own opinion, but I find the film horrible, especially because it paints a completely wrong picture of her. People watching the film now believe that Amy's inspiration came from others and not her (Beehive, music). You see a woman who was enthusiastically supported by her family, which was not the case. Mark Ronson doesn't appear, nor do the Dap-Kings. Amy's vocals sound so smooth, no rough edges, her whole personality is smooth and flawless. And Marisa's singing, well no one could have done that, but when you hear the real Amy with the real song, Marisa sounds exactly like she plays - smooth and lovely. Amy's inspiration unfortunately came from the pain she went through, but that is presented cautiously. And after the movie, there are only two factors that were detrimental to her: Blake and the paparazzi, which is bullshit because she had so much more to contend with. And at the end, not a word about how bravely she fought against the drugs and won. It doesn't do it justice and in my opinion no film can do that. But it's not Amy's story, it's a fairy tale. And what's more, Amy was such a strong personality as a young woman, here she seems like a small child. Stop it! Kapadia's documentary was the only approach - no films, musicals, hologram tours (God forbid) and other shit. I'm sorry if this comes across as harsh, but this topic makes me freak out. I wish you a nice weekend.

Marisa's singing sounds the same in all songs (logical) and I particularly notice her effort, which is natural. Where Amy sounds effortless, Marisa's veins bulge and her face contorts into a grimace. But that's clear because she can only sing higher, and the fact that Mitch didn't care if the actress could sing says a lot about him. I'm sure Mark Ronson knew how shitty the movie was going to be and that's why he insisted on not being associated with it.

I don't know, I think people are being too harsh on the movie. It was a truthful portrayal of Amy as a person to me. Amy only did what she herself wanted.
Kapadia's documentary made her look like a victim.
