An Amy Winehouse biopic, the idea itself is disastrous. But if it was something more like how "Rocketman" turned out, I may have not been so opposed to it. It would have been centered around her music and the parts of her life the lyrics cover. That would have been far better than this Hallmark channel quality horse manure we ended up with. Amy is depicted as a "I'm not no Spice Girl" attitude drunk void of any real personality.
Her talent should have been the central focus of the film, because it was overshadowed by everything else in her life, tainting her public image. We only get snapshots of her in the studio, attempts to make her appear like a pop singer who lacks originality. Her originality is part of why she was so loved. (Also anyone notice the "Stronger Than Me" vocals were pre-recorded, and autotuned? JESUS CHRIST)
We don't care to see reenactments of her famous performances when we can just watch the real thing on YouTube. They couldn't be original with it, instead they go with shot for shot remake of the shows. Creativity exhaustion was strong in the movie's crew, following that typical biopic arc.
Pretty much my face after the movie ended:
