I believe this cover was a disgrace, this was played after Amy played. You can see how wild and pathetic the crowd is (after they booed Amy the whole set). So most probably she was watching it... or maybe she had already left the place. Who knows...?
Well, there are two interpretation of this cover at that particular moment.
A) It was intended to send Amy a message, literally the meaning of the lyrics. If this is the case, maybe they should have resorted to another way of communicating that message.
B - It was a joke (a bad one indeed). This being so, I didn't think this controversial cover was particularly covered in the media as it should so maybe that's why they never apologised. They also played this song in some shows after this one... Anyways, poor Amy....
