Sam Beste is the cute keyboard player (with the soulboy t-shirt) at the North Sea Jazz Festival. I think he was the one, besides Zalon, who performed with Amy the longest. From the very beginning until the last performance in Belgrade. I've never read an interview with him about his time with Amy, it would be interesting to hear his opinion. Has anyone ever read an interview with him? I haven't found anything.

The only “interview” Sam has given from what I know of is in the Amy documentary, he said quoted “She had one of the most pure, emotional relationships to music, like she needed music as if it were a person and that she would die for it.”. I don’t remember if he said more, but I do remember him saying that during 2011 the material (Back To Black) sounded very tired, and she didn’t like singing those songs anymore. I used to have a pirated link of the documentary and I’ll try to find it again to send! Anyway, Dale Davis (bassist) and Nathan Allen (drummer) are two other musicians who played with Amy during the Frank days too, Dale Davis played with her more often after the Frank Era, he was practically her permanent bassist till the end. I’m pretty sure Ade Omotayo (Backup singer) met Amy when she was 19 in 2003, and later became a part of her band in 2006. A lot of her band members that were there till the end knew her since she first started her career, and they were really like a family to her. She would call them her husbands if i’m not mistaken

What you wrote about Nathan and Dale is true. Amy loved Dale especially, so I can't stand what he's doing now. He plays in a tribute band (like almost everyone else, except Sam and Zalon) and was also the musical director of the BtB project. For me, that's a betrayal. Ade actually met her in the Bolsha band. You don't need to send me a link to the Amy documentary, I have it on DVD. :)  :)

How is that betrayal?

To those who complain about the movie, did you even see it for yourself or are you just repeating what you’ve heard from other people?

Yes, I saw the film, otherwise I wouldn't be able to form an opinion. And I really don't feel like constantly explaining my position on the "tribute bands".
Amy wrote her own songs, they were her experiences that she went through. What kind of honor is it that someone imitates Amy and makes money from it? For me, an honor would be to recognize that she was unique and cannot be copied. It's simply a method of continuing to make money from her under a guise. And I find it particularly shameful that so many people from her old band are now making money from it. They might as well have just started a hologram tour. For me, Amy is inseparably linked to her songs. And that's it for me now!

the part where Amy lets him play freely during the live show at Glastonbury is truly magical, who knows what a thrill it is to be on that stage with Amy who lets you play alone in front of the whole audience

Yeah! I was thinking about the same! And the way Amy closed her eyes enjoying Sam's piano, like refraining herself from that turbulent period in her life... Poor thing.

Especially the atmosphere between Sam and Amy at the North Sea Jazz Festival reminded me of sex, they were so emotional together.
