have you a link for that review
argh its 12:30am and i have college tomorrow i cant sleep!!
i really will miss amy now were most likely going to have hardly any info on her i just wish so much she would get herself together its really upseting me now ![]()
Where did you read the review? We are all waiting for some good news Gretskti> Thanks!!!
That is my favorite performance of hers I believe. She is so sexy in that video and so confident… I could watch it a hundred times. Thanks Jayne for bringing back better memories. I too hope we will see “that” Amy again… So lovely to behold.
Great observation and post, brando. I think there are other problems that need attention, but Winehouse needs to take some much-needed time off to take care of herself. If she is committed to being with Blake, she’s going have to make some tough choices.
Dang, even the bastion of the press “The Sun” thinks she should take a break: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/article1659391.ece
hahahah that must have been a tough one for them!
i really hope she just concentrates in getting better now..but then..it is amy we are talking about and it wouldn’t be the first time she lets us down with this, so i don’t know.
In my fantasy world amy disappears for so long that the press and the people forget who she is and dont care any more, not even when her blake gets out. And she just plays guitar and writes and is with her husband.. and then a couple of months later she releases the best album of her carreer, and we all live happily ever after.
yeah, i know.. keep on dreaming
I have the same dream.
But yeah, it’s a dream.
hey you never know,
i want her to go to rehab!
Bestival review: Amy WinehouseI Guardian blog commenters thought The Wino’s Glastonbury gig was bad, they should have seen this
Who: Amy Winehouse
Dress code: Nautical but nice - the band are all decked out like sailors, while Wino sings (“sings”) from behind a ship’s steering wheel.
Who’s watching: The biggest crowd of the festival so far - and most of them are clearly here for the car crash.
In a nutshell: OK, so I’m one of about three people on earth who watched The Wino play Glastonbury this year and came back proclaiming
it a triumph. But if Guardian blog commenters thought that was a bad show, they should have seen this. Admittedly, things got better. They had to - the first song (Tears Dry on Their Own, I think) was barely recognisable, thanks to the fact Amy only sang about 23% of the lyrics. But even when she got her voice back, the whole thing felt a bit nasty, overstepping the increasingly thin line between troubled genius and total shambles. Maybe if we hadn’t just spent an hour dancing to Hot Chip, whose rave-tastic set blew the mud halfway to Newport, it wouldn’t have seemed so bad. But we had, and in comparison to that, a set of half-sung Sam Cooke and Zutons covers from a woman who could barely stand-up straight didn’t exactly top off the night in style.
Bestival: She turned up, she played, there was no riot.
Worstival: The wait for her to get onstage - about 80 minutes, but it felt like hours.

Amy Winehouse was nearly an hour late on stage at a UK music festival because she refused to get her feet wet.
The 24-year-old singer arrived 45 minutes late for her performance at Bestival on Saturday (06.09.08) - held on the Isle of Wight - because she didn’t want to walk on the soaked grass.

A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: "Amy arrived at 9pm and refused to get out of the car. She screeched, ‘I’m not standing in that f***ing mud until somebody dries the grass.’ "
Reports say that after Amy was coaxed out of the car, she started to drink a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey, before promptly collapsing and being helped to her feet by her six minders.
When she finally took to the stage, Amy was met with boos from the rain-soaked crowd.
However, she won over revellers with heartfelt renditions of ‘Love is a Losing Game’ and ‘Back to Black’.
Amy was flanked by a backing band dressed as sailors - in keeping with the festival’s Under the Sea theme - but her set was seemingly cut short, ending with ‘Rehab’ and ‘Valerie’.
The source added: "She changed songs halfway through, saying ‘Switch to ‘Rehab’, faster, faster. We have got one song left but I know you aren’t that bothered’. "
Bestival was Amy’s last scheduled show of the summer.
She is now expected to continue working on her as-yet-untitled third album.
i hope she didn’t actually say this "’ I’m not standing in that f***ing mud until somebody dries the grass.’ "
if she said that, that makes me sad, amys not a diva, i hope shes not turning into one,
oh this cant be right, they probs made it up
I’m so sick of Amy I don’t even know what to say anymore. I’ll leave it at that.
oh gosh,
what happened?
dont come on here if your sick of amy..
i know what you mean know, its getting bloody frustrating, but lets just wait and see how she is in 5 months, if she is the same, im going to be definitly sick of it then, i think almost everyone will be.
you know?..i believe we need to have a positive atitude about Amy’s issues and recovery, if we think “things will get better” and don’t think about the negative stuff, we will feel better and maybe (this will sound a bit crazy) she will to, as we transfer positive vibes to Amy. (?)lol
yeah okay,
i dont think its that im frustrated with amy its more than im frustrated with the people that go see amy at festivals and then say she was a piece of shit, its just annoying,
if you dont like her performance go see others bands dont bag her,
i really hope we dont see her for months now, she just stays on the down low.
what i am dreading is that we see her drunk wondering around london in a week or so, that would suck,
amy shouldn’t be going out, its too much for her right now,
thats what i think
I totally agree with that, cause that’s not healthy at all, and a little childish, and unconcious, if you know what i mean.
let’s just hope she recognises that by herself…she’s no dumb girl.
Amy will get better…i have a good feeling about it…she really diserves it.
I can totally see where you are coming from. Part of me thinks god she’s not performed since Aug 17th, she arrived the night before, why can’t she get her arse onstage and perform for 90 mins. I also think she’s taking the P know, ALWAYS arriving onstage late to me that’s a total lack of respect for your fans.
I also think that if anyone has a right to give a review whether it be good or bad are the people who stand in the pouring rain for hours to see her and yes she has become a bit of a freak show, but SHE has put herself in that position.
I know people want to remain positive but I don’t think that helps her in the end, she needs to face up to her problems before she loses everything, you just have to wonder how many more chances she is going to get.
She has remained out of the public for several weeks now but looking at those photos from Bestival the situation is just not improving, now is definately the time to get yourself onto a programme and stick with it.
I’m just trying to picture how that might work… with a hairdryer?
yeah i think that quote isn’t true,
if it is, im very worried,
i dont like people who are all like oh im famous get me this do that ra ra ra.
haha,
so amy better not be like that
and why is she always late?
wtf is it?
its so annoying, cant she be on time?
just start doing her hair a hour earlier instead,
she doesn’t give a shit about anything anymore, sad but i think its true
You’d need a big hairdrier for that, lol!
Yep - or perhaps each member of the band and road crew could have a go with one hairdryer each. Or maybe 2 - one in each hand.
Or they could maybe use a ricksaw:

But the wheels might get stuck in the mud!
