Forum Upgrade

That is what the problem was before. It’s all fixed now. There was a compatibility issue with another plugin. I disabled said plugin and it’s all gravy.

Awesome!

edit - now why didn’t I think of that? *face palm*
Nice work!

So, we all did a good job. Thanks to all!

Dear mates, please, let us know about any issues!

P.S. Wow, @Wino, this new version has some new cool features!

Right, after much time and copious amounts of tea… all plugins are up-to-date. I am calling it a night now, my eyes need rest and I need dinner :stuck_out_tongue: @v_melnik you’ve got my email, please get in touch if there are any problems. Otherwise I’ll speak to you tomorrow.

Dear members, please continue to inform us of any issues you may be experiencing. And thank you all for your patience while we upgraded the forum earlier.

Goodnight all!

Does it? You’ll have to fill me in tomorrow. I haven’t even had time to check what’s new with this version. Haha!

Ok Ok I know I said I was going to bed but I’ve just created a new thread and when I click on the emoticons… they don’t appear in my post. Can I just quickly ask, is anyone having this problem or is it just me?

let me try :cool:

edit: well that one’s showing

Y’know when you create a post and you have the list of smilies on the right hand side… can you click them?

Yes, seems to work fine for me…

Not to go off topic, but it was mentioned in a suggestions thread that you should be able to edit or delete your posts whenever. It’s so much easier than contacting a mod, and will save them alot of time. Could this option please be considered?

You can edit your post within 24 hours of the post being made. After that, no. We had issues in the past where people would go back and completely clear their posting history. It screws with the statistics of the forum and it looks, to put it bluntly, crap when there are loads of empty posts lying around. I’m not directing this at your specifically but if members just THINK BEFORE they POST, then there’s no need to go back and edit past posts. Why is this such an issue? Genuine question, I don’t get it. If I join a forum I don’t make posts that I’m going to later regret… just think before you post… it’s pretty simple.

edit - @melnyk what are your thoughts on this issue? I really don’t want to allow members to edit their posts any time they like, but if the 24 time limit is a bit too strict then I’m willing to expand the time limit to a day more or so… What do you think?

I agree, let’s expand this limit, @Wino!

By the way, is there a plugin for vBulletin which would allow mods and admins to freeze some topics/posts and deny to edit them? It would be a very useful feature in some cases!

What do you suggest we expand it to?

And I don’t know about that but surely closing a thread does exactly that does it not?

I understand @Wino

just a thought…

We will not remove the restriction on editing, but willing to expand the time limit on which posts can be edited.
What do you suggest is a reasonable time frame on editing ones post?

I’d say 36 hours would be sufficient. The main reason that having the ability to edit is great because some members (including myself) will want to post a picture, but then remove after its been seen so it isn’t left open on the Internet. Maybe there could be a special way to edit posts only containing pictures?

If we change it to 2 days… you cool with that? That’s 12 hours more than you’ve requested.

Alas I don’t think there is a way to change this to only posts containing pictures. I could be wrong however and will look into this over the next few days.

Yeah I do  Thank you

I’m sure the others members will like it too

I just noticed the change as my homepage (ehich was “What’s new”) was changed :grumpy:
I used to go to a central page which had some form message on the left and the most new posts on the right (usually there were 3 or 4…) Noe EVERY comments it there…
I was looking the the "new posts"and I couln’d find my hands and legs…
For example there was a thread 2 days ago about Julliete Ashby I wanted to read but couldn’t find it..

I feel lost! Is it just me?

Nope…I agree with you, I feel equally as lost. I thought it was just me…cause it doesn’t take much for me to get lost. :friendlywink:
